Gorg the Cyclops

Gorg the Cyclops: A Story of Solitude and Compassion

In The High Forest in The Sword Coast , there lives a solitary cyclops named Gorg. He is a towering figure, standing at least twelve feet tall with skin the color of weathered stone. His single eye is surprisingly gentle, and there is a sense of loneliness about him that seems to follow him wherever he goes.   Gorg's backstory is a tragic one. He was once a valued member of his tribe, known for his kindness and compassion. He always put the needs of others before his own, and his fellow cyclopes respected him for it. However, his tribe was not as virtuous as he was. They were known for raiding nearby villages, stealing crops and livestock, and even attacking innocent travelers.   One day, Gorg witnessed his tribe attack a group of travelers. He watched in horror as his fellow cyclopes killed the travelers and took their belongings. Gorg could not stay silent any longer. He confronted his tribe, urging them to stop their violent ways. But his words fell on deaf ears. The tribe accused him of being weak and soft, of caring too much about humans and not enough about his own kind. They banished him from the tribe, telling him never to return.   Gorg wandered the forests alone, shunned by his own kind and rejected by humans who feared him. But he did not give up on his principles. He continued to help those he could, and he never lost his compassion for others. He believes that all creatures deserve to be treated with kindness and respect, regardless of their race or species.   Now, Gorg lives a solitary life, but he is not entirely alone. He has befriended the animals of the forest, and they often come to him for help or companionship. He has also encountered travelers who have been lost or injured in the woods, and he has always been there to offer aid and guidance.   Despite the hardships he has faced, Gorg remains optimistic. He hopes that one day he will find a place where he belongs, where he can be accepted for who he is and where he can continue to help others. Until then, he will continue to wander the forests, a gentle giant with a heart full of compassion.

Party Prompt

As your party travels along a winding road in the hilly countryside, you see a large figure up ahead. As you approach, you realize it's a cyclops, standing by the side of the road.   The cyclops appears muscular and well-built, with skin the color of weathered stone. He wears simple, tattered clothes and carries a crude wooden club, but his stance is not threatening. His eye is surprisingly gentle, and you sense a loneliness about him.   As you draw near, the cyclops speaks in a deep, rumbling voice. "Greetings, travelers. I mean you no harm. Might I ask where you're headed?"
