Throwing Weapon Rules



 

Bow Draw Weight


Any hand-drawn bow, whether it be a shortbow, longbow or compound bow, hurls an arrow out with the force that the archer stores in the flex of the bow. The harder the bow is to flex, the more difficult it is to pull back the bowstring, but the more force will be put into the leaving arrow. Each bow has a draw weight, with a corresponding Potential Melee Damage Bonus and a Strength Requirement. Characters with a Strength attribute below the Strength Requirement cannot use the bow at all. Characters with a Strength attribute higher than the bow’s Strength Requirement can use the weapon, but only gain their Melee Damage Bonus up to the potential of the bow.

Atlatl

Ammunition: Atlatl Dart (Quantity: 5+3CD, Weight: <1, Cost: 1, Rarity: 0)

  An ancient tool that uses leverage to achieve great velocity in a long dart. It consists of a shaft with a spur at the end that supports and propels the butt of the spear. The user holds the spear-thrower in one hand, gripping near the end farthest from the cup. This weapon has no mods.

 
 

Blowgun


Ammunition: Syringer Ammo

  A simple ranged weapon consisting of a long narrow tube for shooting light darts. It operates by having the projectile placed inside the pipe and using the force created by forced exhalation to pneumatically propel the projectile. This weapon has no mods.

 
 

Bolas


Bolas are a simple thrown weapon used to disable a target. Three weights are connected by two shorter cords with heavier weights, and one longer cord with a light weight. The heavier weights fly at the front parallel to each other, hit either side of the legs, and the lighter weight goes around, wrapping up the legs.

Chinese Army Phased Throwing Blade


At the height of the Sino-American War, the People’s Republic of China was desperate. Outgunned and outmaneuvered in Alaska, the Chinese Army focused on infiltration and sabotage instead of direct confrontation. One of their most clever creations was the Hong Zhen phased throwing blade. The aerodynamic blade is set out of phase with normal matter, allowing it to penetrate with supernatural ease. This weapon has no mods.

 
 

Combat Crossbow


Ammunition: Various Combat Bolts (Quantity: 3+3CD, Weight: <1, Cost: 10, Rarity: 3)

  The weapon experts of The Capitol, facing a shortage of resources, put their efforts into crossbow technology instead of relying on firearms. This weapon uses the best of The Capitol's tech in 2317, far and away more effective than crossbows of the pre-war era. There are a variety of bolts available. The Archer Perk applies to this weapon.

Compound Bow

  A compound bow is a bow that uses a levering system, made of cables and pulleys, to bend the limbs. This allows heavy draw weights that launch a projectile faster. Bows use arrows as ammunition. These arrows can add Damage Effects.

Longbow

Piston Spear


An upgraded spear weapon consisting of a metal shaft with the addition of a spring-loaded piston which reacts on impact to increase penetration. The piston mechanism is highly modular and can be upgraded.
