Divination

Spae is the Magical art of determining the future. Volva are known to practice the art, but they are not the only practitioners. Spaekona, namely "prophetesses", also perform the divination. The magic is not a concrete way to read the future, but it does have its merits. The more in-tuned with magic one is, the stronger the Spae readings can be.

Preparation

Spae is simple as far as magic goes. First, the chaos of the world affects something in a "random" way. This could be several tossed bones, a fallen leaf or anything of the like. Then the practitioner focusses on the objects and goes into a trance, allowing the Magic of the world and the gods influence their readings. The vovla or spaekona then will tell what they understood of the objects and their orientations.
These readings can be relatively simple or very complex depending on the Spae-objects and the reader. Throwing thirteen bones randomly, for example, may yield far more Spae information than a simple, single stone.

Tip

It is difficult to determine if readings of Spae are correct and true to the future. Only the strongest Volva can correctly foresee the future. Sometimes the truths are shrouded entirely and Spae will not work.
