Falling Stars

When a star falls, it can grant wishes. They have their own will up until they strike the earth, and they grant wishes with the last remnants of their power. Whatever is left over is deposited as Star Root, which is Root which originates in the heavens. It holds great magical power, which can be used in a variety of ways.
This material can be readily consumed, because it doesn't react as quickly as most other Root. When it is consumed, it increases their innate magical capacity by melding with it. This permanently increases the consumer's maximum spell slots, and may teach them a spell. Depending on the grade of the Star Root, it will give more powerful spell slots, and teach more powerful spells.
It can be transformed into any material through the use of alchemy, much like ordinary Root.
It can also be used to perform miracles, such as reviving the dead, granting wishes, and reversing time. It is consumed when used in this way.
Star Root is durable, and can be sold and traded. However, it is highly in demand due to its incredible magical potential and the ability to grant people magical power and enhance existing powers. However, it does eventually decay into ordinary matter over time, lowering in grade as it does so.
