Xēgwo Rank/Title in FLEISCH | World Anvil

Xēgwo

The title of Xēgwo is a purely ceremonial title, given to those individuals of Iun who are eligible for the position of Hlawīdi (Emperor of Iun).   Hlawīdi is a position that is elected by vote every twenty years.    Xēgwo include the heads of each noble family (Wodisaro, Hlaroga, Yilwedla, Rewayi, Natlnūya, Lawei, Niswetli, Kardine, Hayīrūwa, Xanroda, Tanurā, and Lasrutle), the heads of each god-kin family, and a select number of elected artisans and tradeskin.    If the Hlawīdi is assassinated, no member of their house's rival house may be voted for when considering the successor.    Voting begins with the Yisatlag caste -- those descended from the Gods. Then down to the Suyit caste, the four factions of nobility. Then, the artisan and tradeskin and guardskin vote, and finally, if no individual Xēgwo has gained a majority vote by then, the vote goes to the citizen caste.
