Lugwechi Rebellion

Formed in the literal corpse-wake left behind by countless other revolutionaries. Here are rebels who know the cost of pushing against emprical rule: the cutting winds, wailing screams. Lugwechi means Fate Free. What else could sum up this scrabbling group of mostly-criminals who have grown tired of looking over their shoulders while they try to survive?   Most of those in the rebellion were not ever intentionally trying to be rebels. Not at first, anyway. But with Iun's rulings on magic and fleshcraft, those born with the skills had two choices: be put on a list made known to all major authorities in exchange for a higher station in life or ... just not come forward, and never get that chance to be elevated into a better caste.   There was not a choice for most of the rebels.   Some of them are motivated more by opportunism than any actual ideology, but even these rebels know better than to turn traitor. It doesn't matter what they've done. They could go to the rulers of Iun and reveal everything about the Lugwechi Rebellion, and their reward would be an axe to the throat. Rewarded as a traitor deserves to be.

Structure

The Kadune leads the rebellion overall and is capable of overthrowing the orders of any of their subordinates if the need arises -- though it isn't particularly likely to. The current Kadune, Dathlenn Gwadi, is the second Kadune of the Lugwechi Rebellion as it stands currently. The previous Kadune, Rosenī Lunāda, was executed once his seditionist thoughts were discovered.   Beneath the Kadune are the three Sauda, who are individuals in charge of overseeing the rebels when the Kadune is occupied otherwise. Each of the Sauda has their own area of expertise, and (in an ironic mimicry of the factions that the noble houses occupy) the expert in an area is expected to be given greater weight than their peers when it comes to evaluating a proper course of action. Currently, the three Sauda are Kehla Modeyi, Matle, and Lōtlu Dexdi.   A rather curious rank is that of the Sangwe. Sangwe are thieves, smugglers, and ne'er do wells who serve the rebellion. Their illicit activities are not often motivated by the pure spirit of pushing back against an oppressor, but all Sangwe give a share of their cut to the Rebellion. Kehla Modeyi was previously a Sangwe before she was given the rank of Sauda.   Operatives who mingle with guards and nobility are called Nemdruthi-- "daring high peaks". They risk life and limb attending to noble creches, donning the uniforms of street-guards, and ingratiating themselves with the society that would kill them for existing. As such, Nemdruthi are some of the most trusted operators within the Lugwechi Rebellion. All of them, before they leave for their first mission, swear themselves with blood and spit and flesh to the cause, burdening themselves with a curse that will kill them if they are captured and seized. Dathlenn does not like this practice, but it is understood by all that doing so is the only way for a captured Nemdruthi to avoid horrible torture.   The rank and file -- but very much still appreciated -- members of the rebellion are given the title Kunsud, which roughly translates to "live with wild". The Kunsud are given careful attention by those in higher ranks, because while the Sauda and Kadune do much of the planning, it is the humble Kunsud who does much of the work.
