Uses, Products & Exploitation

Rinse-wood is often harvested and the fibrous stalks cured. Once done so, the fibers can be easily woven into planks. The fibers retain their original compression and tensile strength, allowing planks to be as strong as some alloys of metal.   The plant's cylindrical stalks can also be harvested, then treated in a salt solution which makes the fibers temporarily pliable. This allows the plant to be shaped or stretched into bowls or other containers for cooking. Once treated with resin, the result allows for a container that can withstand the direct heat of ovens or fire for cooking.   The leaves are prized as a key ingredient in many teas and recipes for their sharp, spicy taste.
