Obaho Species in Fiven Chronicles | World Anvil

Obaho

The humanoid wolf species called 'obaho' are one of the most wide-spread and well known across Fiven. Culturally diverse, they comprise several countries - primarily in the northern continent of Fiven primary landmass. But it isn't unusual to come across an obaho in many distant parts of the world.

Basic Information

Anatomy

An obaho typically stand two meters tall, or six feet, on the average. They have two arms, two legs, and a wolf-like tail. They walk upright, and have four fingers and opposable thumbs allowing the use of tools.   Their head shape and proportion is that of a canine or a wolf. This includes a muzzle, ears and whiskers, but they have the muscles from their human ancestors in their facial region, allowing them to express the same range of emotion as a human.   Their feet end in a paw-like structure, but it is wider to support their upright stature.   Their vocal chords, while the sound is typically deeper, can express a similar range of sounds as a human.

Genetics and Reproduction

Obaho give birth to live young, and have one to five children on average.

Ecology and Habitats

Obaho are air-breathers, but beyond that have little trouble with most environments. They are most comfortable in rocky or forest climates.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Obaho are omnivores, like their human ancestors. There are some vegetables they cannot eat, such as onions or radishes, they do not have many food restrictions.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Obaho are widespread across many regions of the northern and southern landmasses of Fiven.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have a color-based vision like their human ancestors. However, their night vision is only slightly improved. Their hearing ranges only a slight improvement over humans at 67-26,000 Hz with good direction-sensing and separation abilities. Their skin is touch sensitive, and their sense of taste is equivalent to a humans. An obaho’s sense of smell is highly developed, being 100 times superior to their human ancestors.   While it is not common, obaho are occasionally born with The Talent. The Talent is what their ancestors would categorize as a preternatural sense, crudely referred to as ‘psychokinetic talent’. It is regarded more in modern terms as 'magical talent' or an ability to 'code' the Weave .
