Session 68: Heavy Lies the Crown

General Summary

Kill Him

49th of Spirende 22nd year of the Second Era   Before carrying Klizmir the Undying to his sarcophagus, Malcolm searched his posessions. The only thing he still had in his possession was several runic plates the Magnifying Glass of Identify couldn't identify, and an old wooden amulet of elven design representing an unknown deity.   As The Regulators sealed his sarcophagus they began looking for an alternate way out of the crypt. Fortunately, Rupert Wasser sent a message to the Scroll of Message at that moment. He urged them to be in Palhas City within two days and recommended they send Serenity to Fuen. Malcolm was briefly suspiscious of this messag as they had never been to the Imperial City, but the handwritting and writing style seemed genuine.   Malcolm told Thradreg Duskchin to head that direction but to stay inconspicous. The Regulators then used the Wizard's Door to travel to Lord Ozin Lorimer's Tower. When the arrived, the foyer portion of the tower was present, but the rest of the tower appeared to be elsewhere.   They traveled back to the city and found it bustling with activity as local farmers bought supplies to prepare for the first seed of the year. On their way across the city, Echo noticed a young boy trying to steal her coin purse. She intinctively picked the boy up by the shirt, but when "The Queen" whispered in her ear to kill him, she dropped him. The boy then recognized the rest of the parry and profusely apologized, not having realized Echo was with them. Echo gave the boy some gold, and as a prank, Malcolm pick-pocketed the boy before giving it back.     The party settled in to the Lucky Hawk Inn and Malcolm used the Wizard's Door to pick up Arget Ethyn from Anexa for a few days.

A Day on the Town

50th of Spirende 22nd year of the Second Era   The following day the party went to the Museum of Alfardarine Culture and Artifacts which had seen a sharp uptick in business. Lorenas identified the amulet as a very old religious relic likley dedicated to one of "The Eternals." though he would need time to research which one. Zuko lent the amulet to the museum collection and accepted a share of the recent profits, before giving Echo and Arget a tour of the exibits adding in information form the Regulators' adventures related to the artifacts.   They finsihed off the day visiting their favorite bakery, the book store and Al-Hai's Bazaar where Echo purchased a magic dagger, and Al-Hai made a custom magic diaper bag for Malcolm and Arget. Echo also visited the Archives of Udal to look for more information on "The Queen." The scribe told her to return the next day and he would give her what research he could find.

The Crown

51st of Spirende 22nd year of the Second Era     The following day The Regulators proceeded to the secret meeting at the Lord Mayor's estate, which was a small portion of the original castle of Palhas. Rupert Wasser started the meeting off by announcing that the Quorum of Acreomond was having an emergency meeting in a week's time, likely about the conflict around Hame which is near the Rum Lin border. But he pointed out that delegates from Toresia would likley mention seeing the new Palhas Royal Army, so the secret of their seccesion would soon be in the open, so it was vital that they be there to represent themselves. They would spend the week planning their entry into the Quorum embassy. Sebastian Braun informed the regulators that he discovered a monument to Dalomdarlug Treasurejaw in the ruins of the Dwarven city near Medno suggesting he became king of another Dwarven settlement called Thaldur near Loch Gylden. The city was destroyed during an unexpected volcanic eruption, but parts of the city are still accesible, and more may be reachable by traversing the volcanic cavern. He also meantioned to Meara that he was unable to spend much time in town due to a recent distrust of outsiders there, but he did confirm that someone that is likely her father is still living there.   Silas informed them that their contact from the Solis Templars in the Realm of the Dead wanted to inform them that Hame had been completely by the realm Thanatos, and privided a map of the new city layout.   Ethed asked the others to leave the room before revealing her findings. She revealed the Crown of Stone, and described the stone army she found in the buried city. The Regulators explained to Rupert Wasser what the crown was belived to do, and stressed that they wanted his agreement to keep the crown stored safely away until it was needed, and to give it up when the threat from Orcus was over. Wasser agreed, and the crown was being put away when an old man suddenly appeared in the court. Ethed began to put up a defensive posture asking the man how he got in, but a moment later seemed pacified. The old man said that something had been stolen from him, eventually throwing off the facade and claiming to be the owner of the crown. Ethed rushed to defend the crown as The Regulators formed a defensive line as the Arch Fae revealed their true self. They seemed ammused, and accepted the challenge, causing the wall to all ceiling mirror to fall towards them.     To Be Continued...
