Session 63: Behind the Eyes

General Summary

All Coming Together

34th-37th of Spirende 22nd year of the Second Era
Over the next few days The Regulators started determining more concrete plans for their big escape. The Torgris Gang confirmed htey had people spread throughout the prison that could be trusted to distrubute weapons and start the fighting within the prison. Malcolm  made plans to get the guard tower doors barricaded to reduce the amount of hand to hand fighting involved. 
The night before the breakout, Malcolm closed himself in the wizards door while Zuko snuck it into the basement of the gate house. They discovered the armory and its defenses, and also checked out the source of magic in the storage room. 

Prison Break

The following night just before curfew, Malcolm stood by the nearest guard tower to their cell and fired a lightning round into the sky. Zuko activated the undead dragon (see: Session 37: Hands of Fate ) The dragon was immidiately drawn by the fire of the guards on the canyon walls, allowing Zuko to lead the prisoners in his section toward the front. To maintain the distraction of the dragon, Zuko fired at it to encourage it follow, unfortunately causing it to breathe its lightning weapon on him and several other prisoners; only Zuko survived. 
The prisoners gatherd as they fought the guards and proceeded towards the gate house. The gate house exploded with two large cannon blasts, and Serenity  was seen flying low overhead. The prisoners made their way out of the prison, and looking back, the Regulators saw Serenity launch some sort of magical artifact that captured the dragon. 

Three Choices

The prisoners crested the hill to the northwest of the prison and were met with a small army of soldiers dressed in red with golden lion chaped helmets. Jarl Rupert Wasser and his now wife Ludwika Sliwinska rode out of the crowd of soldiers. Wasser introduced himself and his wife to the prisoners as the Kind and Queen of the new Kingdom of Palhas. 
Wasser promised there would be no further death or imprisonment for their desertion provided they were honest int heir next choice. Those who deserted purely out of cowardice would be exiled from Palhas, living the rest of their days in the Marches of Kesena. Those who deserted because they didn't want to abandon Palhas or Frielos but could no longer fight, were free to go home to their families. Those who still could fight were welcome to join the Palhas Royal Army 
The vast majority fell inot the final category and were immidiately sent to deal with incursions on the southern border by Toresia soldiers. Serenity landed and The Regulators got on board. As Echo prepared to join them, she heard the voice of the creature from her visions telling her she wasn't worthy to be with heroes like The Regulators.
