Session 62: Swords, Drugs, and Gold

General Summary

Toppling an Empire

12th-25th of Spirende 22nd year of the Second Era   Zuko set to work following Guillermo Ferrer for an extended period of time to learn more about his routine and find a weakness in the organization. Meanwhile, Malcolm continued to document the patrol routes within the prison.   During the first week, the crew also arranged to be audience members at the fight club. Villy, the guard that had originally taken interest in Meara ran the events, which for the most part involved audience members challenging the 'champions" of the events. However, when interest began to die down, Villy would select unwilling prisoners to fight the champions with no option to surrender, resulting in serious injuries and sometimes death.

Paranoid

Zuko noticed that Guillermo was beginning to calm down about the supply problem, so he started stealing a little bit of the drugs each day. After a few days, Guillermo was certain they were being stolen, especially when he noticed a bottle of Redthyme missing, especially since it is not a recreational drug. Between this and the Sharp Sugar, The Regulators realized that Guillermo was involved with very dangerous and wealthy people, probably starting long before the prison.   Malcolm followed Guillermo around creating ominous whispers around him to increase his paranoia. They eventually planted the suggestion that one of his closest allies was the one stealing the drugs and spiked his morning drink with Sharp Sugar. They also left evidence of the drug near his bunk. Guillermo and the rest of his crew searched his cell, but the trace amounts of powder were dismissed as circumstantial until Zuko placed the bulk of the drug where they would find it. Guillermo murdered his partner by dumping the bag of Sharp Sugar down his throat.   The following day, Guillermo didn't leave his cell, but the day after went back to his normal routine without any of his crew. He did the bulk of the distribution himself and even got some of his paid off guards to help. While following him, Zuko, heard some the guards expressing concern about Guillermo taking to many risks in his new operation. Guillermo announced he would be going the gate house to pick up the missed shipment himself. Barfouth Warhand alerted one of the gate house guards he knew to be an honorable man about Guillermo's plan. Zuko, went to watch to make sure the plan to get Guillermo caught was successful. However, Guillermo was joined by more guards than expected as he made his way to the secret stash. He told them to stay outside but they followed him shortly after and Zuko watched as they killed Guillermo and burned his body along with the remaining drugs. They had decided that the risks he was taking and his growing paranoia wouldn't end well for them, and eliminated his operation instead.

The Torgris Gang

As the Guillermo operation came to a close, Malcolm, had Barfouth get word to the Torgris Gang that he was willing to pay an obscene amounts of money for protecting their personal effects. This drew the attention of some of the senior members of the gang. All of them were high ranking members of the Earrenian Imperial Vanguard before deserting; presumably in Frielos Province regiments. They had heard the rumors around the prison about Jarl(rank:7d05acb8-6af0-4458-9025-2eefbd6d6be5) @[Rupert Wasser's secession from the empire and the army he wanted to build. The pseudo leader, Walter Carhart, told Malcolm if such an army was really being made, he would join without prerequisite. Malcolm assured him the rumors were true, and his loyalty to Frielos over the emperor was exactly why the Jarl would want him in the new royal army.

Darkness Within

Over the course of these weeks, Echo was extremely careful with her meditations, trying to avoid a repeat of her vision of the dark reflection of herself. However, she was eventually drawn into another vision. This time it was a frozen moment in time from the night of the destruction of her village. She was standing outside her burning home as the two undead creatures walked out. She heard the voice of "the queen" asking her if she knew why they had ignored her that night. When Echo didn't answer, The Queen explained "They spared you because they recognized themselves in you. Because they recognized ME!"   To Be Continued...
