Session 47: Whiterath Pass

General Summary

The Plan

43rd of Wintercrest 22nd year of the Second Era   When the The Regulators returned to  The Solia, repairs were well under way, and Marcus Sheppard seemed to have gotten some sleep. Lara Jennings announced that she had chosen the best cartel ship to ambush and steal: The Aóratos  The vessel was due to go through Whiterath Pass within a few days before continuing on to the cartel's headquarters. She presented them with three choices and their c]various pros and cons: Ambush them on the North or South side of the Rearave Mountains, or ambush them in Whiterath Pass itself.    They agreed to take the risks in the pass in favor of the advantages. The following morning, Serenity returned. When they arrived to meet the ship, they found the dock master comforting Thradreg Duskchin for what the official manifest said was a very unproductive week. When the dockmaster was out of site, Duskchin perked up and showed Malcolm the secret manifest which indicated he had completed one of the most valuable smuggling runs in history to the tune 5,400 gold pieces and two bottles of top shelf Duram whiskey. Malcolm was so thrilled with Duskchin's work, he gifted one of the bottles to him.    Lara came to see the ship before they departed, and she did, she pointed out that the cartel would see Serenity as a prize in of itself and floated the idea of towing it in as a captured vessel to sneak a crew that could attack the cannon batteries.

Aóratos

46th of Wintercrest 22nd year of the Second Era   The two ships arrived at the south end of the pass and proceeded part way in, hiding in places that would allow the Aóratos to become trapped between the two ships before it new what was happening. AS it approached, Malcolm told the Solia to come out of hiding to draw the ship forward.    The Solia and the Aóratos exchanged fire before Serenity was revealed, and the party noticed the Aóratos was being particularly aggressive with the Solia even after The Solia engaged. Zuko jumped from the Solia with the flying carpet and snuck up to the Aóratos, disabling it's turning mechanism with a bomb. He then crawled up the side of the ship and hooked one of the ships officers with his magic grappling hook.    With the Aóratos sails, maneuvering and cannons disabled, Serenity and The Solia approached to deal with the deck crew. The Regulators targeted the ships most capable looking fighters, quickly picking them off before engaging with the ships captain, VanDevries  When VanDevries was the only officer left on deck, he used a harpoon gun similar to Zuko's magic grappling hook, and teleported onto Serenity's gangplank with Malcolm. Malcolm tethered himself with his own grappling hook and knocked VanDevries with a flying kick. He was still hanging on to the harpoon gun, but Zuko cut the rope with an arrow, and VanDevries fell 1500 feet to his apparent death.    To be continued...
