Session 21
General Summary
Fireteam Crescendo begins their journey to Firebase Hades. Leaving Trostland, the afternoon is interrupted by urgent radio communication from Devrim Kay. At the City Militia's request, the party intervenes in a Fallen glimmer mining operation in the Trostland outskirts. They deactivate 3 glimmer drills, and Cloak contacts the House of Light to send a skiff to collect the inert drills for scrap.
The party travels for a bit longer before camping for the night. The following afternoon (day 2 of their travel) the party stops for a moment to humor an old man claiming to sell magic beans. Bentley and Ernesto display the most interest, both gladly accepting a bean and trading away some small amount of glimmer and trinkets for them. Zelle reluctantly accepts one as well. Upon eating the beans, the party finds they are indeed magical. Bentley becomes proficient in the skill of Calligraphy, while Ernesto and Bentley both gain skills in Plumbing.
On day 3 of the journey, a roadside grave encountered in the late afternoon causes the party to pause. The grave marks the resting place of a young girl, only 9 years old, whose cause of death is described as "black lung". Bentley is troubled by this and spends a significant amount of time performing a mourning ritual he studied in the Archives.
The majority of the 4th travel day passes without incident, though when the party chooses to stop and break shortly for the night their rest is interrupted by a green glow on the horizon. Investigating the area, the party finds a pool of water radiating with Hive soulfire. A collection of humans around the pool performing a ritual soon throw themselves into the water and emerge fully Taken. A pair of powerful Taken enemies materialize, and the party prepares for a battle.
