Maruzhad (Ma-roo-zhad)
The Stoneshaper
Maruzhad is a Prime Deity and god of Dwarves, Mountains, and Stone.
He is depicted as a muscular, bearded dwarf with skin as tough as granite and eyes that gleam like polished gems. Maruzhad is a god of the earth, and his domain encompasses all aspects of stonework and the mountains, including mining, crafting, and construction. Maruzhad shares several qualities with stone as well, particularly how slow he is to change, reflected in his dwarven creations.
As a creator of the dwarves, Maruzhad is revered by his people for his unwavering loyalty, wisdom, and strength. His followers see him as a symbol of resilience and perseverance, often calling upon him for guidance and strength in times of hardship. Maruzhad is also known for his strong connection to the earth and the natural world, and many of his followers see him as a protector of the natural order. The Dwarven creation myth claims that Maruzhad created each race of dwarf from a different type of stone, carving them from the rock with his mighty hammer Dhağ'tzv Hrm.
Maruzhad's temples are often found deep within the mountains, carved out of the living rock itself. These temples are typically adorned with intricate stonework and are often designed to be both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The interior of the temples is often dimly lit, with flickering torches casting long shadows across the walls. As head of the Khazd-tarâg, shrines to the other members of the pantheon are always included in Maruzhad's temples, with the hammering of Thardarkhân's forge echoing through the hall.
