The members of the Church of Light within the Protectorate Rustia broke off to found their denomination of that faith, Steinism. The ultimate secular and ecclesiastical authority merged into the position of the Protectorate's Lord High Protector.

After the Monarch of Rustia recieved news that all future requests for divorce due to his wife failing to birth a male heir would be refused, the Rustian Nobility issued a Declaration of Religeous Independance from the the Pope of the Church of Light. The Monarch of Rustia subsumed the role as head of the Church of Light for those within his protectorate, merging ultimate secular and ecclesiastical authority to the position of king, empowered by the nobles under him and the priests of his land.
