Finders Keepers

Created by

Back in 2013, there was a short story contest that I learned about after the fact. The Round 11 premise was a character finding something that they had no intention of keeping and had to be 600 words or less. The winner, Ben Jahn, wrote about finding a Reborn Doll and keeping it. I thought his was the only truly unique idea and liked the general premise so much that I became to think about finding more esoteric objects: a fragment of someone's dream; someone's last breath before dying, a person's pride; an older sibling who drowned but who's body was never recovered. So, I started witting some of those stores but gave myself up to 1000 words, and here's what I have so far.   If you're interested in reading Ben Jahn's winning submission you can find it at: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=189334596   If you come up with your own take on this idea or you think of something unusual to find but you'd like me to write about it, let me know!
