Otterfolk

These small mammalian creatures were said to be a gift to Sedna and Fusundu on their wedding, made by the The Mythweaver. They are light hearted happy folk that live along river homes or on the ocean with interconnecting planks and bouys. In their little communities, everyone knows everyone and all are family. Many sailors consider good dealings with Otterfolk to be good luck, as they are the joy of Sedna. Otterfolk don't think to much of this and try to live their best life.
Ability Score Increase: +2 Charisma
Age: Reach adulthood at age 16, live to about mid 50s
Size: About 3ft tall and weight about 30lbs, Small
Deep Divers: You can hold your breath for 10 minutes
Dense Coat: just like the primal otters of the land, Otterfolk have exceptionally thick fur to keep warm. They have resistance to cold damage and can naturally adapt to cold climates.
Speed: 30ft walking and swimming
Darkvision: 60ft
Water Speaker: you know the shape water cantrip.
Language: Common and one other language of your choice. 


Ocean Otterfolk

The Oceanic otterfolk live nearly their entire lives on the waves. They meet sailors and other creatures of the deep, but unlike their river brethren, ocean Otterfolk are visibly larger and have great stamina. They frequently adapt to cultures they interact with. 
Ability Score Increase: +1 Constitution
Born for the Sea: You have spent your entire life on the ocean and know what's best for survival. Your choice in proficiency with a tool or Survival checks.
Ebb and Flow: Just like reading the tides and currents, reading an opponents actions comes easy to you. You know best when to fight against the current or go with it. Once per short rest when making an athletics check to perform a combat maneuver you may give yourself advantage on the roll. Attacking or Defending.


River Otterfolk

River Otterfolk are the kings of the river, as their name suggests, and are variations of ocean otterfolk that went inland and adapted to life away from the oceans. They are agile swimmers against the current and stalwart defenders of the wild. They adapt to the local communities along the rivers they build their homes on, often creating "ottertown" districts off large river cities and villages. These districts are a great source of trade but still maintain their close knit family communities. 
Ability Score Increase: +1 Dexterity
Life by the River: River Otterfolk have more contact with the other mortal races considerably more than their sea brethren and ahs made them a little more charming and mischievous. You are proficient in your choice of Deception or Persuasion
Natural Swimmer: When making a swim check (athletics) you can instead choose to make an acrobatics roll.   Otterfolk do not have much in the way of cultural tradition or rituals. They live in the moment, enjoy celebrations for all joyous occasions, and adapt well into whichever culture they find themselves a part of.
