Karura

Karura were once members of the Corvus Anemoi tribe. They were gifted with the high honor of being Tsinúk's connection to the land and as his representative to Nauma, the god of death. Nauma was also represented as a large Corvid type bird, giving the Karura a great honor. Tsinúk blessed another group, the Rakura, to be representatives to Amuan, the god of life. Amuan was represented as a large Sun Bird, similar to the Rakura. As scavengers and eaters of the dead, Karura were thought to carry the souls to the afterlife by consuming their corpses. They were told never to kill another, only to eat the bodies of the dead, and to never eat the flesh of the Rakura. A small sect of the Corvus Anemoi (who were the ones to be known as the Karura) grew malicious and jealous of how loved the Rakura were. People looked at Karura with fear and disgust, often avoiding them completely. In their rage, this sect known as the Karura killed the Rakura and were cursed deeply by Tsinúk. He took their wings and their free speech, and cast them to the earth below, far out of his realm. The flightless Karura wander the world as vagabonds and burglars who live at the edge of human society. Karura suffer from a sinister reputation that is not wholly unearned. Many Corvus Anemoi still maintain dark reputations due to their distant relation to the Karura that fell. The Rakura have been lost to time as all of their kind among the Anemoi were wiped out. Tsinúk declared such genocide could never be forgiven. The Karura tend to adapt slightly to the cultures of those they live near, while maintaining a lot of the customs and etiquette of Anemoi.
