Mantus

Mantus, (MAHN-toos) sometimes called Lord Mantus, is the ruler of the Scipien Pantheon. Associated with learning, wisdom, prophecy, the future, justice, old age, meditation, self-awareness, philosophy, and magic, especially necromantic magic. Mantus is the son of Dauthi and Aila, the deities of the underworld, and gained his power and knowledge from the wisdom and knowledge of all the dead.

Dauthi

Dauthi (DOW-dhee) is a genderfluid deity of the underworld, who judges the dead as either worthy or unworthy. Dauthi shepherds and guards those souls they judge to be worthy, while the unworthy go to Dauthi's spouse, Aila, for punishment. Dauth is associated with graves, mourning, law, and justice. Long ago, before the world was made, Dauthi and Aila were a single deity, Mertis. Mertis once slighted the storm god, Thunraz, who became so enraged he struck Mertis with a lightning bolt, which split them in two, creating Dauthi and Aila. Dauthi and Aila were distraught that they had been separated, and so joined together in marriage to be as close to each other as possible. The two have one child, Mantus, the ruling god.

Aila

Aila (EYE-luh) is a genderfluid deity of the underworld, who rules over (and punishes) the unworthy dead after they have been judged by Aila's spouse, Dauthi. Aila is associated with rot, disease, infirmity, mold, vermin, death, and drowning. Although not entirely evil, they are often cruel, unreasonable, or petty, and it generally does not pay to draw their attention. Long ago, before the world was made, Dauthi and Aila were a single deity, Mertis. Mertis once slighted the storm god, Thunraz, who became so enraged he struck Mertis with a lightning bolt, which split them in two, creating Dauthi and Aila. Thunraz

Thunraz (THUHN-razz) is the god of both storms and the sea, and is associated with the ocean, the sky, thunder and lightning, storms, flash floods, and natural disasters. However, in his role as the father of some of the other gods, Thunraz is also associated with virility, power, and masculinity. He is known to be temperamental and prone to violent fits of jealousy and rage. Thunraz is the husband of Jord, goddess of earth. They have three children; Keathu, the goddess of the hearth; Kend, goddess of the hunt; and Hallet, god of war.

Jord

Jord (YORD) is the goddess of the earth. She is associated with nature, fertility, motherhood, plants, crops, and harvest. Although she is married to Thunraz, she is frequently unfaithful to him, and there are many stories of her taking Mantus, Lari, and even Hamarz into her bed. With Thunraz she has three children; Keathu, the goddess of the hearth; Kend, goddess of the hunt; and Hallet, god of war.

Hamarz

Hamarz (hah-MAHRZ) is the agender deity of the forge and craft. They are associated with fire, smithing, metalwork, woodworking, shipbuilding, clockwork, and other mechanisms. Hamarz is generally rational and logical, the calm voice of reason in the midst of catastrophe. However, they dislike Mantus and frequently try to usurp him. Although they have occasionally wavered, Hamarz is devoted to their wife, Keathu, goddess of the hearth, with whom they have twin daughters; Elouan, goddess of the sun, and Nyctala, goddess of the moon.

Keathu

Keathu (KEE-thu) is the goddess of the hearth, and is associated with the home, cooking, healing, medicine, childbirth and motherhood. In addition, Keathu is associated with feasting, luxury, indolence, and celebrations, and presides over marriage, coming-of-age, and naming ceremonies. She is married to Hamarz, deity of the forge, and with them she has twin daughters; Elouan, goddess of the sun, and Nyctala, goddess of the moon.

Elouan

Elouan (EL-oo-ahn or EL-oh-ahn) is the goddess of the sun. She is associated with fire, warmth, and daylight, as well as agriculture, the summer, autumn, harvest-time, and the turning of the year. Elouan is also a goddess of love, fertility, beauty, music, dance, and passion, and along with her sister Nyctala, she is the patron deity of young lovers. She is the daughter of Hamarz, deity of the forge, and Keathu, goddess of the hearth.

Nyctala

Nyctala (NICK-tah-lah) is the goddess of the moon. She is associated with the dark, the stars, and nighttime, as well as dreams, particularly prophetic dreams. Like her sister Elouan, she is also associated with the turning of the year, particularly planting-time, the spring, and winter. Additionally, she and her sister are the patron deities of young lovers, and in that role she is associated with beauty, femininity, love, and poetry. She is the daughter of Hamarz, deity of the forge, and Keathu, goddess of the hearth.

Hallet

Hallet (HAL-et) is the god of war, and is associated with combat, victory, glory, honor, conquest, strength, and physical prowess. He is also the god of masculine beauty, and is associated in that role with lust, virility, and passion. He is the patron deity of Sciphelm, the capital of the Scipien Empire, as well as the empire as a whole. He is the sworn protector of all the gods, ever vigilant and watchful. He is the son of Thunraz and Jord, and is brother to Keathu and Kend.

Kend

Kend (KEND) is the goddess of the hunt, and is associated with nature, animals (especially boars), hunting, forests, and wilderness, as well as cooperation, companionship, and close platonic friendship. Additionally, she is the patron deity of travelers, and is known to guide those who are lost back home. She is the daughter of Thunraz and Jord, and sister to Keathu and Hallet.

Symbol:
Holy Weapon: Bow and arrow.
Holy Animals: Boars, deer (especially stags), foxes, hunting hounds, falcons.

Lari

Lari (LAHR-ree) is a genderless trickster deity associated with deceit, chaos, treachery, and disguise, as well as gambling, luck, chance, fortune, and fate. They are also well known for magic and illusions. Lari ignores all rules and social conventions, and their dangerous pranks frequently cause strife and misfortune between the gods; but somehow Lari always manages to weasel their way out of any punishment. Lari was not originally one of the gods, but rather, a Fae being who tricked their way into the power they now hold.

Symbol: A sea-mew with wings spread, clutching a dagger in one talon.

Holy Animals: Sea-mews, crows and other corvids, mockingbirds, cuckoos.
