Most gnolls today are Astral pirates.
A young movement of gnolls who wish to re-connect with their ancient cultural roots, nicknamed neo-gnolls, have begun to return to the Prime Plane and settle Undjaskla Pike and western Sondadarsda. Their communities are small.

History

The gnolls once peopled a mighty empire throughout the western reaches of Timir: the Marilsan subcontinent, the Chamadar Desert (which was less harsh in climate in those days), and throughout the region now called Undjaskla Pike.
A mighty war was waged in the Dragon Age, about 3800 Mythic Age, between the medusas and goliaths on one side, and the Undjaskla Empire on the other. In 3771 M.A., the Empire fell, and most surviving gnolls fled the Prime Plane, eventually settling in the Astral Plane.
The neo-gnoll movement began in 1481 V.Y. (56 years ago), but was slow to get started. While still small, it has grown significantly in the past 5 years.
