Daelist Way
Mythology & Lore
The gods formed the world, controlling the energies of the elemental planes through metaphorical music. Then they set the world on its way and took up a new, unknown project.
Tenets of Faith
The beings worshiped as gods in other religions are relatively unworthy, as the true gods are far mightier and nobler, but have taken a "hands-off" approach to the world (and possibly even the multiverse). However, if the world can be made to reflect the values of these gods, they will be pleased and possibly even return to influencing it directly.
Ethics
The great commandment is to seek improvement in the Four Virtues:
- "Wisdom," which in practice means mindfulness and integrity.
- "Swiftness," which in practice mostly means proactivity. Daelists do tend to be fascinated with actual speed, whether mental or physical; but being literally or figuratively "slow" is not considered sinful, just unfortunate.
- "Rhythm," which in practice means balance and moderation.
- "Cheer," which in practice means optimism and compassion.
Granted Divine Powers
Clerical or paladin powers are rare and mysterious in Daelism, since they do not have a deity who will grant them powers as in other religions. Those who do have such powers claim that they do magic through the simple power of pure strong faith.
Because there is no deity dictating the type of magic that this faith manifests as, most Domains could conceivably work for a Daelist cleric, as long as the cleric can justify how the Domain relates to one or more of the Four Virtues.
