Salt Slums

Walled-in area of northern Grasmere city where law has largely been abandoned. The Grasmere Town Patrol has all but publicly said they refuse to patrol the neighborhood and with the Pillarguard all but gone, the checkpoints at East Check and West Check are on a painful staffing shortage, relying on annoyed-at-the-overtime Keep Guards and highly bribable mercenaries.
The district's official title is "Northgate"—a term mostly only used by Tower officials. Northgate has been something of a misnomer since before the Collapse, when the large iron gate that once dominated Grasmere's outer wall was dismantled along with most of the rest of the fortifications.
