Heroes of Prophecy

The Heroes of Prophecy are a group who appear in numerous prophecies given by various different deities, sages, diviners, and extraplanar entities for thousands of years at least. Several attempts have been made over time to collate these prophecies into a cohesive, cross-cultural index, but for various reasons each effort has fallen short of its stated aims. The prophecies are so widespread and in some cases fragmented, interpretive, and subjective as to be an entire branch of study among academics and religious scholars.
The essence of the agreed-upon prophecy states that at the time of darkest shadow, four heroes will rise from among the gods-formed races: the artist, the valiant, the sorceress, and the sacrifice. Only with these four can the shadow be tamed.
