Dinan
Dinan is a festival celebrated in the Singing Wood, on the winter solstice. The winter solstice is a time of heightened magic: in the short hours of the day, a snow festival is held. Magicians exhibit their prowess with magical effects meant to entertain, crystalline ice sculptures are displayed around town. The town is decorated with winter greenery, such as pine and holly. Games are played in the snow, and ice skating is common.
With the early onset of night--cold, dark, and lonely--the Eyes of Anzû prepare Dinas, a sleep drought which is distributed to and imbibed by any who wish to partake in the evening’s activity. Gathering in groups, elves repose into a death-like sleep, during which they experience vivid dreams. Some dreams are shared between individuals. Some meet the souls of those who have passed. Some become trapped in the grasp of nightmares, and others see things so beautiful they are compelled to recreate them when they wake. After twelve hours, the elves wake from their mystic experience and breakfast together, either recounting their experience or keeping the secret tucked in the folds of their hearts.
