Dead

When a creature reaches zero hit points, they fall unconscious. An unconscious creature makes death saving throws until they either stabilize, or they die.

Death is a permanent condition, but not completely irreversible. A creature that is dead can be resurrected through magic of various potency--the longer the creature has been dead, the stronger the magic required to resurrect them.

Resurrection takes a toll on the creature's body, typically manifesting in difficulty performing actions for several days.
