East Tolona

East Tolona is the land marked by the fallen body of dog-deity Canispirito. It sits on the northeast of the Tolona Peninsula, facing their old metropolis Torrerca across the sea, and their not-as-old rival West Tolona over the mountains/fallen deities.
Just like West Tolona is cat paradise, East Tolona is the Dog Heaven. Canispirito protects every dog and their related species. In East Tolona, the dog really is a person's best friend. Dog-related symbols and motifs can be found on the country's flag, national anthem, and national sports teams. The parliament is informally called "The Kennel", though it is not always meant in good spirits.
East Tolona came to be as an aftermath of the first Catharxis, the End of the World. Canispirito and Felialma, the cat-deity protector of West Tolona, almost destroyed the peninsula in their endless fighting, but in the end all they managed was to enter a deep slumber, with their bodies forming the mountains that divide East and West Tolona and are so big and impenetrable (before airplanes, anyway) as to be called Tolona Wall.
Nowadays, East and West Tolona have a much better relationship based on cooperation and cultural understanding (save for the eternal dog vs. cat debate). Citizens of West Tolona are free to live and work in East Tolona, and vice-versa. The countries speak the same language and enjoy the same TV shows (even a certain reality show about a family with 20 children). East Tolona is slightly smaller than its western counterpart, but they try not to feel too bad about it.

East Tolona is governed by a president and a congress that is routinely referred to as "the Kennel". Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on the speaker.

History

East Tolona was first established as part of the larger "Tolona" colony put down by the Torrercan Empire. Even though the land where East Tolona is now was closer to the original Torrercan settlements, explorers went all the way to the west end of the peninsula to establish the first colonies. Bardabella, the East Tolonian capital, wasn't founded until 640 BC, almost 800 years after the capital of West Tolona.
East Tolona became an independent country in the year 1 AC, when the destructive aftermath of the End of the World called for total separation between the eastern and western halves of the Tolona Peninsula.
