Tolona Peninsula
The Tolona Peninsula is a stretch of land located in the northern hemisphere, though its southernmost point is close to the equator. The middle of the peninsula is divided by the mountain range known as Tolona Wall, which divide the two most prominent countries in the area: East and West Tolona.
Geography
The upper half of the peninsula houses the Tolona Wall, the fallen bodies of two powerful deities of the old days. The area surrounding the mountains is covered in forest (at least the non-urbanised part). The mountains end at the foot of Lake Pierocato, and from then on the land turns into inhospitable desert.
The desert is believed to be the result of a lack of blessing from Felialma and Canispirito, a corner of the world forgotten by everybody. However, even that has not deterred people from wanting to settle there in the most recent years.
Fauna & Flora
The forest surrounding Lake Pierocato is a Natural Protection Zone. People are forbidden to build on the land or damaging the forest in any way.
Unfortunately, the same care and preservation drive did not extend to the forests of East and West Tolona, who have all but disappeared since heavy industries settled on the area. Conservationists also fear that eroding Tolona Wall will lead to a much larger disaster.
Natural Resources
The most important natural resource of the Tolona Peninsula is the glistening rock found in the Tolona Wall. Its exploration has just began in earnest thanks to the entrepreneurial mind of Nay Tur Wild, but the preliminary financial results are encouraging.
The land between desert and lake/forest has proven to be good for sheep and other pastoral animals. The most daring sheep farmers have expanded their lands right to the border of the Natural Protection Zone and will push even further if they think no authorities are looking their way.
East and West Tolona are highly urbanised areas, but the region used to be covered in forests plentiful of wood, medicinal herbs, and fruit trees. Little of this forest survives to the present day. Only the area still in the Natural Protection Zone gives the peninsula's inhabitants some clue to what the rest of the forest was like before this heavy urbanisation set in.
