Anvil Frame
The Anvil Frame is a limited production terrestrial Battle Suit developed by Buchanan Heavy Industries just prior to the Second Solar War.
The intention of the original design was to create a cheap, mass-producable terrestrial Battle Suit with a high pilot survival rate. Due to the survivability of the design, a number of Magma Guard and Typhoon Legion veterans requested heavily customized models which played a pivotal role in the defense of both Mars and Earth at the onset of the Second Solar war. As the conflict dragged on, these custom models were produced as variants with an emphasis on high performance and quality materials which resulted in a highly durable and reliable Battle Suit. Hundreds of years later, in the midst of the Third Solar War, the Anvil Frame is still produced to this day for specialist squads and decorated pilots.
Variants
- Standard Type: A high-performance Battle Suit whose design has stood the test of time. Though moderately armored, a basic Anvil Frame can accelerate from rest to 100 m/s in just over a second. In conjunction with a 70% survival rate, this has made the Anvil Frame a highly sought after Battle Suit among terrestrial pilots.
- Commander Type: Though superficially similar in terms of armor and armaments, the Commander Type Anvil Frame sports a sophisticated communications array that can cut through the particle interference produced by the emissions of Laniakea Reactors on the battlefield.
- Light Type: Light Type Anvils strip away much of the "surperfluous" armor found on the standard design, increasaing speed and agility drastically. To utilize its newfound nimbleness, it is highly effective at close range with additional melee macroweaponry that encourages close-quarters combat.
- Heavy Type: Differing drastically from the other variants, the Heavy Type is a heavily armored direct-fire support unit that prefers engagements over range due to its poor mobility. To support its heavy macroweaponry, the distinctive tracked treads on its heels are removed and deployable support pylons are available when heavy shelling is required.

- Ketteract Drive Thrusters
- Tracked Treads: As ground-based terrestrial Battle Suits, Anvil Frames "skate" across terrain as high-mobility units. To help facilitate this, the heel (save the Heavy Type) are replaced with large tracked treads which prevent leg units from embedding themselves and tearing up the ground which would impede their movement.
Weapons & Armament
Standard/Commander
- Long Rifle: A 250mm semi-automatic cannon that fires a rocket-assisted projectile. Highly effective at medium to long range.
- Missile Rack: A four-cell missile pod mounted on the left shoulder. Missile types are interchangable depending on the nature of the sortie, ranging from High-Explosive (HE), fragmentation, smoke, or concussive.
- 4 x Hand Grenade: Four waist-mounted hand grenades that can be programmed with a fuse timer or for impact detonation. Though High-Explosive, its limited firepower is unlikely to deal significant damage to enemy Battle Suits. Instead, they are used to disorient and weaken Battle Suit formations or damage ANTs.
- Laz-sword: Stored in the left forearm unit.
Light
- Flechette Launcher: A bayoneted flechette firing scattershot sidearm. Though low-powered in comparison to most ballistic macroweaponry, the flechette rounds detonate after embedding themselves in a target's armor.
- 100mm Carbine: An automatic, conventional ballistic weapon with a high rate of fire. Effective in close to medium range.
- Pile Spiker: A deadly forearm-mounted melee weapon that launches a spiked rod with explosive force, easily piercing Nanoweave armor.
- 4 x Flash Grenades: Waist-mounted hand grenades designed to temporarily blind the optical sensors of Battle Suits.
Heavy
- Anti-Armor Long Rifle: An unwieldy cousin of the standard long rifle seen on the Standard and Commander Type Anvils. The AALR is chambered in 300mm with a considerably longer jet period. Effective range exceeds 10 kilometers.
- Shoulder Missile System: An 18-cell missile system mounted on both shoulders. While the payload is appreciably smaller than the Standard Type's HE, they are effective in repelling enemy units when fired in patterned sequences.
- 600mm Artillery Cannon: A back-mounted dual artillery piece designed to provide long-range support. Given the substantial firepower, deployable pylons support the Battle Suit during barrages. Commander Types can relay precise shelling coordinates through their advanced communications relay.
Armor and defense
The Anvil Frame is a highly durable model with layered Nanoweave armor that resists ballistic weaponry particularly well.
Commander
- Hardened Nanoweave Shield: A left shoulder-mounted shield, ideal for providing protection when firing from the right arm. It is also equipped with flash charges and Interceptor Missiles.
Light
- Shoulder, waistguard, and ankle armor is removed.
Heavy
- Heavy Type Anvils sport an additional armor layer across much of its frame, making it even more durable. Though it increases the overall weight, the redundant layer can be purged by the pilot if rapid mobility is required. However, reinstallation can only be completed in hangars or dedicated repair bays.
Communication Tools & Systems
Commander
- Advanced Communications Array: The distinctive "horn" of the Anvil Frame is elongated on the Commander Type and further enhanced by a head-mounted antennae. This communication suite is capable of cutting through the interference produced by a dense Laniakea Field, allowing for communication with external entities with little risk of comm interception by third parties or other Anvil Frames within the field. This is only effective on Terrestrial Battle Suits since Laniakea fields are weakened by dense atmospheres found in colonies and terrestrial planets.
