The Storyteller Character in Fearann Ùr | World Anvil

The Storyteller

Am I but a figment of your imagination child? Who knows... heh heh heh.
— The Storyteller
The Storyteller is an engima to Fearann Ur. A god? Perhaps? A creature reaching through Nvdatlanuwa's dream world? Nobody is quite sure. The Storyteller acts as a gateway between Fearann Ur and the beyond. A way to convey information that may not be easily presented through character motivation or visual stimuli.   It is said that their voice only exists within the mind, and that it morphs into what the listener finds most comforting. To some, an old lady sweetly describing a bedtime story; to others, a macho explorer regailing the listener of his heroic deeds; but to most, the Storyteller takes on the listeners voice, softly speaking their words in a way they would find delightful.   The Storyteller represents inevitability. Your birth will always be recording in their annuls of history, and your death will always find its way onto their pages. The Storyteller is not a mere creature who's existence is hard to truly understand. The Storyteller represents all and nothing. Wholeness, and emptiness. They have existed since the beginning of Fearann Ur, perhaps even before the Titans roamed the land. Sure enough, they will existence once it ends and perhaps longer.   It is said that everyone will be graced by the Storyteller's voice at least once in their life, and those lucky enough to grace it will perhaps recieve a return visit. There are people who roam Fearann Ur who have said to have been driven mad due to their journey of calling the Storyteller to them. They ramble endlessly, telling their own stories, trying to call forth the Keeper of Words.
