Rehan Terreheart
Rehan is the current ruler of Vertiste and comes from a long line of rulers. Like his ancestors before him, he studied at the Athame University to hone his skills as a warrior and as a leader. This is where he met his wife, Aline Dupont, and where he will send his son to study in 3E 287.
Prior to the events of the story, a large scale Civil War had broken out after a Lord disagreed with the Terreheart family sitting on the throne for so many generations. Rehan rallied his forces and led a campaign against them, ensuring little damage to the country was done in the process. There are still some Lords that oppose Rehan, but there is little he can do against them unless they openly stand against him. Due to the Vertistian belief of honour, it is uncommon for a Lord to use assassins.
By the start of the story, Rehan has sent Gaius to study at the Athame University whilst he manages the fallout of the Civil War. Lords must be placed upon chairs and the general discourse that has been caused must be seen to. Rehan also believes a lot in the lower class, and has been striving to readjust the feudal system to allow the lower classes a better life style. One such change is allowing the peasant class to join the Guardsmen and army. Though they are facing some prejudice, the long standing principals are slowly being stamped out.
