SIN band
The SIN band is a soft black silicone wristband with a quartz core imbued with Aether. It identifies and tracks individuals, linking them to their Service Identification Number (SIN). It seamlessly integrates into the daily lives of Helots while enabling constant monitoring by authorities.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The SIN band is made up of three layers: a soft black silicone outer layer, a thin steel inner layer for protection, and a flexible quartz sheet core that has been infused with Aether. This design ensures the band is both durable and functional, allowing it to interact with the nationwide security system for constant monitoring. Thanks to the quartz core's aetheric charge, the band can be tracked in real time through ground-based trigonometry. Once the band is attached to the wrist, its components fuse together, permanently sizing it to the wearer. If anyone tries to cut the band, it will trigger an immediate alert to the authorities.
History
After The Reconstruction, seven years ago, the SIN band was introduced as part of Favont's security overhaul. Its purpose was to reinforce the social hierarchy and make it easier for the authorities to monitor the helot population. Legal names were replaced with identification numbers, which marked a significant change in societal attitudes towards personal identity and freedom. The helot population was now easily identifiable and trackable by the authorities.
Significance
The SIN band is a symbol that represents the loss of personal identity and autonomy for helots. It reduces individuals to mere numbers within The System, reminding them of their status as property and devoid of personal rights. For the rest of Favont's society, the band serves as a visible marker of control and order, reinforcing the distinction between free citizens and helots.
