Idris Karpal

Frightful Night, Dreary Night

Roleplayer: Jimjam#7671

Backstory

Typical Vampire-Type Magus. The life of Idris is a wild one, to say the least. Born unto the name of bloodsuckers that practiced magecraft and had a lineage long before the turning point into that new life.   An artificial birth was Idris'. Though the ability to realistically conceptualize a child normally even with a bloodsucker, it was by far, the worst idea possible, especially for those that had grown too elder and the possibilities of instances were just inconsistent with the conceivable theory.   But another way was devised, the creation of a bloodsucker by not turning another, but instead creating it directly from the self personifying the image of "an heir". Though it was a shallow concept when you factor bloodsuckers into the mix, it does hold water if they were magus' through and through despite that change of heritage.   Years and eventually a few decades of research went into the project of creating that “perfect ideal” they so wished.   Until it came to be. By using a sort of “template” of the host's body, it could be done. In a fashion similar to the creation of a homunculus minus the stipulations they had. A style of creation magecraft if you would dare call it using various techniques to achieve the possible theory.   Such theory became unto reality, and thus Idris made his debut into the world. A bloodsucker of “pure blood,” in a way. The true image of what the family had desired, one that was impossible to bind to a sire. Handsome, elegant in his ways, and a particular tact for wanting to usurp.   The charming fellow and prestigious heir to their Magic Crest and lineage.   Or so— one would think. Well, partially correct.   You see, the origin of creating something into reality always comes with a form of stipulation or clause to achieve it. In such a way, Idris' was essentially splitting the half of multiple people and combining them into one and through means achievable by advanced magecraft, creating a living entity. Where his body is not weak, his body is filled to the brim with negative, cursed energy. The very essence of his “magical energy” embodies something that is cursed.   Such a quality caused his elemental affinity of [Earth] to shift to [Imaginary Numbers], which, though intentionally done in the first place, had been more applicable due to that unstable amount of negative energy that built up within the bloodsucker. Additionally, it also meant he would be quite the interesting heir.   The faculty of his being ultimately received a Split Crest instead of the Full Magical Crest due to his body's inherent nature despite being the [heir] to the name. An unfortunate reality for when he did receive it, anyway.   No less. When he did receive it does not matter. That is the conception of his being, the essence of creation behind the "pure-blooded" bloodsucker.   Despite the obvious magical lineage of his “family” that was passed unto him through teachings and research, Idris' dabbled in the workings of a moderate-aged Clocktower, attending the Faculty of Creation under the guise of another Magus through the use of metamorphism and other minor forms of magery to better conceal himself from the world. One would think it would fail; but, in all reality, it did work. No one really cared for this "average student" persona he wore. They were odd feelings he gave, but most were ultimately suppressed in his deep love and research.   He would spend years upon years there as that persona before vanishing. Quite the deal of time, roughly estimated around to be 50 or-so with the evolving body of that metamorphosed persona. Learning and developing a style and form he would use to create, similar to how he had been, magecraft. Magecraft that allowed the premise of “creation to a specific something”. In all reality, it was various things, but something that altogether made his own “unique-style”.   As age was not a factor to worry of and or about for some who had the genes and reality of a bloodsucker, Idris could set out his plan in due time. The first was creating the court he so desired.   Oh? It was not mentioned yet? The Origin of Crown causes Idris to desire to be atop the reigning parade of monarchy; and thus, he acts as in such a refined way to that of a charming "monarch" and seeks to create "that of which befits a monarch". Henceforth his allegiance to the Faculty of Creation in temporary form.   That all came along in time itself. Building himself up as a reputable bloodsucker. A hundred years, two hundred years, and at last, three hundred where the title of “Dead Apostle” was realized unto his name. For his creation of existence was considered at that time the “mark of a Dead Apostle” in some relevant theory.   There was a reason that title had been properly bestowed unto him by the Holy Church and later recognized by the Magus Association. It was because of his reputation not only in what he deems "the vampire version of the mage world” but because of his sour opinions. In that time where he left the Clocktower, he had seen it grow far more political, and obsessive with that word. Creating factions and ultimately digressing from the once former “heaven” for magecratt study.   It grew so sour to the point of him making advances against it, but they were ultimately thwarted. His opinion was handled— something. You see, he had a faction under his name after all— vampire politics and all that, and thus they were voicing the same collective. Magus' that Idris had turned into his puppets for various means. Though they would try to resist him, he had a way of dealing with them. Thus, marking him an enemy of the Magus Association and by proxy, the Holy Church.   He was never handed a designation, but it was more or less an unspoken rule to kill him if it was ever possible; someone who was a menace dabbling in their politics did not belong. And to think, he was Aristocratic in Nature? They thought hermetically of him. And in truth, he is. His Origin makes him wish to rule atop the mightiest of thrones, yet he thinks politics do not belong in the sphere of Mages and only in the outside domains of the world and his own little involvement into the shadowy backwater of vampire politics? Tch. Many hated him for that very reason; though they didn't know about the origin part. Not even he did. That was just how he had always acted.   It continued like this until he was roughly 378. 72 years into the scuffle of his name being thrown about until he suffered a fatal blow by the Holy Church. His life was nearly claimed. Rather, existence.   The details are unclear, but the damage was so severe, like all vampires, he fled into hiding, barely able to keep himself together. His Magic Crest for the most part doing that work for him.   In addition to the damage, the reaction the church member had upon him resonated with his negative slew of energy and caused him to fall into a slumber; by all accounts. He was vanquished in the eyes of the church. He surely would have been claimed.   But that negative energy repaired his body over time. The Magic Crest converted it into a style of “curse” to restore the body alongside the Curse of Restoration. And over the years while sleeping, Idris, the slumbering sire to many, was recovering.   He woke rarely when he could, but it was always the same. His attendants and creations looked after him, with unwavering loyalty waiting for their master to recover… and eventually he did fully come modern day.   The Third Holy Grail War took a toll upon his creations and possessions, but he ultimately was fine. He slept through the thing after all. Something about a stupid Lancer-Class Servant causing collateral damage.   In any fashion… This is where Idris lies now. A Bloodsucker who is no longer considered a Dead Apostle and never truly was. In fact, his conception as one was truly just a title backed up by his abilities more or less. And overtime, because he was not considered a “human” that became a "Dead Apostle” through magecraft but instead a “bloodsucker” that was created through magecraft, it was revoked. Not to mention, his abilities at the time are far more instinctual than conscious. He can cast spells and that like just fine, but getting re-used to his body and everything is of a slight issue.   In other words. While he is at the high end tier of Bloodsuckers, he is not, unfortunately, considered to be applicable for sub-category status without intervention. But hey. At least he still has that cool curse of regeneration and long life or whatever!

Magus Abilities

Specialized Information

Personal Feats:

  • 『 Though not extraordinary, Idris is but one of the few remnants of an “old-fashioned” magus. Less of a fest and more of a quality of being, but having not conformed is at least worth mention 』
  • 『 Monarchy. Despite his “specific incident” that occured, at least in the political sphere of Bloodsucking Magus', Idris is well-reigning. Though, mention a Dead Apostle and he'll quickly— 』

Strengths:

  • 『 Idris' strength comes in influence, though he is considered to be a First-rate Magus by all accounts and standards, it is his words he potently used to act as a sort of poison; playing the game of diplomacy before immediate action 』
  • 『 Unsurprisingly his resilience. In terms of body at least; having grown to such an elder age for a “bloodsucker” takes some talent. As to why it's unknown, but still considered a lovely trait of his 』

Weaknesses:

  • 『 That which the church uses to rid of his kind, the eighth sacrament, black keys, you name it. A literal weakness and countermeasure against him. Though he can survive quite the few assaults, weakened and damaged, albeit, it's still a major weakness. A truly skilled set of envoys could realistically take the Bloodsucker within an instant 』
  • 『 Ahem— that will be shown well enough. That being, his dangerous political opinion of the Clocktower. Such a thing would be considered a weakness for he would have the eyes of 2 of the 3 factions on his head 』

Weaponry:

  • 『 A Cane styled in the fashion of an extended rapier; coupled by a sword hilt. 』
Origin:
『 Crown 』
Elemental Affinity:
『 Wind & Earth 』 → 『 Wind & Hollow 』

Magic Circuits:

Magical Circuit Grade: A-
『 Abnormally High Quality of Circuits. The lineage Idris hails from was quite the potent one; though they are of high aptitude, it undoubtedly stems from the origin of his creation rather than anything “too family related“ if one thought about it hard enough. Even though they're the same clause. Despite their high Quality, they are just for show of lineage and nothing more. Perhaps that is why they are on the cusp of decline or is there another reason? Who knows! 』
Magical Circuit Volume: B+
『 High Quantity of Circuits. The amount of circuits Idris wields is quite impressive, especially if you were to take into account his “Quality of Circuits”, he would come off as a miracle. And you would be correct. The amount of circuits he possesses naturally is around “40” with a sub-count of “20“ pertaining to a Split Magical Crest having been implanted. 』

Magecrafts

『 Curse of Restoration 』
The Curse that restores the body of vampires. It doesn't heal injuries normally. Rather the curse restores body parts that are damaged or destroyed to their previous state by reversing the flow of time for that part. For someone who has become a Dead Apostle in their time, or having achieved that status, it makes sense to reason this as a form of “immortality”. Actually, you couldn't be more wrong for someone who lost the classification of Dead Apostle with the time he spent lumbering. At this point, one could just call it “regeneration”.
『 Curse of Slumber 』
While not a curse by name, it is something to keep note of. Idris' "long slumber" has caused his status as a sub-categorical Bloodsucker to the standard, and by sanction, his capabilities at the present are more instinctive than fully autonomous. He is capable of still acting as a First-Class Magus, but one could reason it to "getting used to a new body” and thus “powers and capabilities do not always function as properly intended when used actively by the conscious”. For how long it will remain in effects, no one knows. But it should be some time before he regains proper and full control of himself.
『 Elemental Affinity — Wind 』
The first alignment of the Magus. The concept of air is dealt with. Kinetic forces, static energy, free energy and directed movement are its qualities as an element. Fitting for a Bloodsucker who often assaults people from long ranges with their minions already, doesn't it?
『 Elemental Affinity — Hollow 』
The second alignment of the Magus that falls outside of the spectrum of the Great Five Elements known as the "Imaginary Numbers". The latter element of [Earth] was changed into [Imaginary Numbers]. Allowing those with it to make use of the Imaginary Numbers Space; Idris uses it for its “pocket-space”. And typically “transport” of his— well, you'll see.
『 Magical Systems 』
The knowledge and usage of Magical Systems the Magus uses. In Indris' case, he has a proficiency with: General Fundamentals, Black Magic & Curses, Metamorphism, Rudimentary Alchemy and Spiritual Evocation. It is believed it comes from his split Magical Crest; its knowledge is more limited but still potent in terms of fields. Necromancy is also included however that is not a part of the Magical Crest. A specific reason is for that.
『 The King's Court 』
A style of Magecraft that focuses around the concept of “Creation”. Coincidentally, having aligned with the studies of the Faculty of Creation in his time as a student at the prestigious Clocktower. It is not entirely in the same vein as one might suggest “Projection”. Rather, it focuses on “the reality of making those things” by combining various experiments, theories, and fields of study into one collective project. In his case, it is creating the “perfect court befitting a bloodsucker,” and thus deals with creating beings of that nature. Using the body of one as a base and working it up to its “perfected state” in that regard. It is a simple concept that takes time and effort, and has many comparable theories to its name. Such as Alchemy and Metamorphism, degrees of Necromancy for getting various necessary ingredients and more. One begins to understand it well.

Personality

One would call him the most stereotypical for a Magus. A man who embodies sternness and pride beyond one's wildest imagination, yet one would wears the kind aura of a gentlemen walking along the lakeshore.   One who openly masquerades as a villain in order to achieve a brighter future -- though entirely selfish in some regard -- it could be realized as a greater cause for what he really does drive at. A simple vampire if you would.   Self-driven, and with undying want to rule; but a sort of jovial and more soft expression sometimes showing to intermingle passionately. One would remark, "he seems pretty basic," and you'd be entirely right. He's more of a "see me in execution"-style of person. Oh, not the church execution! Don't see him there!
Children

Mystic Codes

“Dapper Appeal"
A C-Rank sword-type mystic code.   Designed to wear the appearance of a gentleman's cane, its handle is replaced by a fancy form of pommel.   Designed for combat, one would question its practicality as a “sword”, that is until Magical Energy is shot through the Mystic Code.   The hardness of the wood is replaced by steel that cuts through flesh and muscle effortlessly; durable and conditionally, just an average-ranked combat mystic code.   It acts as a medium for one's element, and by using its secondary function-- creating slashes of wind that reach meters out is a typical feat.

  • 『 Kind but Stern, he is caring and cruel. A rather odd type of Bloodsucker don't you think? Reminds some of a specific director in a way; but he has entirely no relation to that man -- they just think -- and somewhat act alike 』
