Spear of Destiny
Mechanics & Inner Workings
When used in tandem with Lucius's Noble Phantasm, Last Sanctus Vulnus (Last Holy Wound), the lance creates a wound that can't be healed.
History
Originally just a Roman soldier's spear, when Lucius Longinus pierced the side of Christ it became coated in the blood of the Messiah. Several centuries after Longinus's time, during the time of King Arthur, the spear found its way to Britain. The wicked mage Klingsor sought it out, & manipulated Sir Balin & King Pellam into fighting. Balin destroyed Pellam's castle with the spear, & after their battle Klingsor stole it. Percival confronted Klingsor in his fortress. During their battle Klingsor used Longinus on Percival, only for Percival to take the spear's magical energy from the attack and throw it back at him. Percival then returned the energy to the spear, recompleting it. Several centuries after King Arthur's time, legend says that the spear found its way to the domain of Charlemagne. It is said that Charlemagne's sword Joyeuse contains the spear's tip inside its pommel.
