Fragarach
Mechanics & Inner Workings
It was said that, with Fragarach at their throat, no one could move or tell a lie, thus the name "Answerer". The sword was also said to place the wind at the user's command & could cut through any shield or wall, & that it inflicted piercing wounds from which no man could recover.
Manufacturing process
The sword was forged by Manannán mac Lir, the Celtic sea god.
History
Fragarach was forged by the Manannán mac Lir & given to Nuada. Nuada wielded Fragarach in various battles against the Fir Bolg. When Nuada's arm was severed by Balor he gave the sword to Lugh, alongside his right to rule. Nuada only took it back when gained Airgetlam & claimed his throne again. Lugh took the sword after Nuada had been killed.
Significance
In Irish mythology, Fragarach, was the sword of Nuada, the first high king. The sword was forged by the gods & was meant to be wielded only by those who posed above the stone of destiny (the Lia Fail), which roared as the sword whispered in response.
