    the Founding Year
    Era beginning/end

The first year after the Fey Fall was crucial in determining which settlements survived and which perished. The most successful stationary community was Scarroton. This large group of survivors endured many obstacles, yet established great cooperation and sturdy defenses against the seasonal storms of the Frost Shepherds.

Discovery of Tolhuis aan de Nell
    Discovery, Exploration

During the first great expansion into the Riverlands, Tolhuis Aan de Nell was discovered. The Scarroton council wanted to use their bridge and expand further beyond the river. The dwarven family Brugman would only allow that if travellers across the bridge paid toll. It was agreed that in exchange, Tolhuis aan de Nell would pay yearly taxes to Scarroton.

    Founding of Sawmills
    Founding

This industrial outpost was founded as a collection center for all the wood chopped from nearby jungle areas. The town mostly consisted of wind-driven mills that powered sawing mechanisms. The trade between Sawmills and Scarroton was very lucrative on both ends, as well as for Tolhuis aan de Nell in between them.

Foiling of the Soot Elves rituals
    Military action

The Soot Elves were sabotaging further expansion of the Scarroton territory by attacking explorers and builders. Some kidnapped victims were being sacrificed on great pyres. The Owlketeers successfully drove them away from the lands surrounding the Scarroton territory.   Some Yu Me records show that Shadow Sector Black studied the Soot Elf rituals and used this information in their later experimentation.

    Founding of Tulosa
    Founding

The territory expanded towards the river called Zabala by the Yu Me people, a name which was readily adopted by the common folk. The Flamel group grew exponentially by harvesting magic elements from springs and forests near Tulosa. An offshoot of the Owlketeers attempt to keep watch over the forests and prevent pollution of the natural habitats.

Mapping of the Westernell cavern systems
    Discovery, Exploration

With aboveground shifting of the border with the jungle, underground tunnels and caverns had to be mapped and blocked to prevent rogue wildlife from entering the protected territory. Ever since the Founding Year tremors were recorded by explorers and builders in this region.
Through a combined effort of the Everlight Guild, the baron Von Hünchmausen, and the Eragina clan of the Yu Me, the source of the tremors was found. A crazed gem dragon was extending their lair in such a reckless manner that the whole cavern system integrity was at stake. A party of the Everlight Guild, led by Bjorn the Dragon Smashing Gnome, slaid the dragon.

    Excavation of Azurdoom
    Discovery, Exploration

The lightning storm above the Azurdoom ruins, where the Fey Fall originated, had lessened in size and ferocity the past decade, and ceased completely in 71 AFF. New border walls had envelopped the wider region around the ruins, and jungle reclamation efforts closed in around the city.
Local leaders in Scarroton and Tulosa fell into conflict over the ownership of the ruins. Scarroton was responsible for the jungle reclamation, but Tulosa was positioned much closer to the ruins. This is the first inter-territorial conflict to reach a deadly conclusion: the Tulosa Massacre.

Yu Me records show that Shadow Sector Black made use of the conflict as a distraction, to secretly gather ancient knowledge from the ruins of Azurdoom. This knowledge, combined with their earlier assimilation of Soot Elf rituals, allowed Aurillius and his closest confidants to expand their lives beyond their natural lifespans.

    the Tulosa Massacre
    Military action

The outer ring of Tulosa consisted of expansive slums where goblinoids were housed. The goblinoids strongly supported the Tulosan claim on the Azurdoom ruins and were spreading propaganda even in Scarroton. As a counter-measure, Scarroton invaded Tulosa, to forcefully take back control.
This mission was led by a captain of the Flamel Group, the orc Bai Po Ur-Za. To capture the bridge into the city proper, fires were set in the goblinoids slums. Estimates are that 500-1.200 sentients perished in this conflict, the overwhelming majority being goblinoids.
In the aftermath, Scarroton re-established their power on Tulosa, and the Flamel Group bought the rights to excavate the Azurdoom ruins. This allowed them to magically enhance the physicality of their mercenary soldiers.

    Founding of Basilford
    Founding

As the river Nell was followed to its connection with the sea, Basilford was one of the more well-traversed settlements along the river banks. The first settlers were followers of Basil Hobbs, a human man with legendary healing abilities. Basilford was named after him, although it would be his eldest son, Basil Jr., who became Saint Basil the Paragon of Pariah.

    Raids on coastal settlements
    Military action

Orcish raiding parties from Greza took advantage of vulnerable coastal settlements and raided them of food, tools, and even people, which were sold into slavery.
The Orphanage of St. Aubrey helped these people survive the harsh winters by leading caravans of donated food and clothes to the south. the Everlight Guild and the soldiers from Tolhuis learned from the orc tactics, and with war-mounts trained by the Keepers and goblin mercenaries, they eventually drove off any raiders and set up proper defenses along the coast.

    Geological / environmental event

In the newly reclaimed foothills south of Highstern Mountain, where Fullton was being founded, a colony of rainbow rocs was nearly hunted out of existence. This was done partly to protect locral livestock, but also for their valuable large multicolored feathers.
The Keepers, funded by Baron von Hünchmausen and the Tolhuis Estate, tamed the remaining population of rainbow rocs and protected them from extinction. Since then, any rainbow roc is deemed property of the Keepers.

    Founding of Herofjord
    Founding

At the fjord forming the mouth of the Zabala river, Herofjord was founded as a military base. In its harbor caravels were built to better defend against the orcish raiding parties on the sea.
The Everlight Guild, responsible for the founding, also declared Herofjord a free city state, much like the Tolhuis settlement. It would contribute through taxes, but it could set its own laws and trade deals. This was supported by other influential factions, such as the Keepers, the YuMe clan, and St Aubrey's Orphanage.
The Flamel group tried to establish their own shipyard. However, the Owlketeers lobbied against it, holding the Flamel group's accountable for severe pollution in the Tulowold. The Everlight Guild declined Flamel's license application.

    Exploration of Maashen
    Discovery, Exploration

In need of ore and other building materials, more reclamation took place in the Corundes mountain range. Expansion was slow because of the Maashen swamp on the other side of the range. The settlement Treskkant was formed to house the reclaimers and their families, which had to spend many years in the area.
An elf man from St. Aubrey's Orphanage, called 'Crazy' Dio, called for aid in an expedition to retrieve something important from the Maashen, which seemed familiar to him. A few Everlight mercenaries and a Yu Me navigator offered help, despite the baron Von Hünchmausen voicing his opposition to this plan. The expedition braved many dangers, until they stumbled upon a partially submerged building of elven architecture. Dio recovered his target from the inside: a fine old elvish porcelain tea set.

Slave revolts, founding of Port Libera
    Founding

With the coast now properly protected, more coastal settlements are founded. Trade opens with ports along the Alothlien coast and the Grezans on Croaker Island, allowing opportunists form the main land to buy goblin slaves for cheap labour in reclamation and agriculture.
The Owlketeers attacked these plantations and freed goblins; the Everlight Guild sent protectors who defended goblin refugees; and the Yu Me could help many escape through Fey portals. The goblins, emboldened by this support, organized strikes and revolted en masse. Many factories, lumber mills, and plantations ended up burned to the ground. The freed goblins founded Port Libera, a place of freedom from rules and rulers.
Coco Flamel, founder of the Flamel Group, held a historic speech about safeguarding institutions that provide wealth, stability, and security, and that goblin freedom threatened the economy. Her sentiment found little traction in the broader community, who sympathized with the goblinoids' desire for freedom and prosperity.

    Establishment of Concordia
    Political event

While the jungle between the reclaimed shorelines is slowly chipped away, a Torenrig perpetual airship contacted Scarroton. With contact restored to all other countries on the continent, proper international representation was needed. The leaders arranged a nation-wide election amongst several prominent candidates, and chose the first president: Alejandro Aubrey, a kobold from the influential St Aubrey's Orphanage. The runner-up became vice-president, surprisingly a goblin matriarch, mother Rosalina. The owlin candidate from the owlketeers was appointed the first Minister of Expansion. In 133, the country Concordia was founded, and the Concordian book of law was established in the years that followed.

    Outlawing of goblinoid slavery
    Diplomatic action

Despite the prosperity in the brand-new Concordia under their leadership, president Alejandro Aubrey and especially vice-president Rosalina faced many threats and unrest. They were offered protection from the Everlight Guild, aided by goblinoid information networks, and the Keepers had offered the government specially trained guard-bulls.
Nevertheless, on the 23rd of October 139, XXX (an associate in the Flamel group) attempted to assassinate the vice-president, opposed to the idea of one of the goblinoids having a leadership position. The attempt failed, but Bjorn Tippletop jr. of the Everlight Guild died in defense of Mama Rosalina.
This brought to light the importance of legislation concerning slavery. After confirming the citizens' sentiments with a referendum, a new law was passed: Any and all humanoids (including goblinoids) cannot by Concordian law be defined, bought, sold, or kept as property of another humanoid.

    Founding of Himmelport
    Founding

Himmelport was founded on Highstern Mountain as more of the Corundes mountain range was explored, and it's location proved to be the best for creating a docking station for Torenrig's trading skyships. The greatest investor in the construction was the Flamel Group. They were aided by a mysterious woman, Sierra the Seer, who declared the mountains further north should be considered sacred, and therefore welcomed the founding of Himmelport so close to Scarroton.
Exploration of the Corundes proceeded with difficulty. Builders and scouts regularly went missing, often for months on end. The area was accosted with strange storms and aggressive abberrations. The Everlight guild, the Keepers, and the Owlketeers attempted to investigate this phenomenon and rescue any missing people. All they ended up finding was a campsite, abandond safe for one corpse, clutching a map showing a route towards a glacier in the north.

A small group of extremists, calling themselves Manpower, called people to more aggressive action. They incited factory workers to sabotage or even destroy factory property. Heroic men and women of the Flamel Security Corps defeated the Manpower terrorists, thus safeguarded the progress and ingenuity of Concordia.

The failed reclamation of Cotanglo Forest.
    Discovery, Exploration

Reclamation was focused on expanding to lands suitable for agriculture. However, despite having relative ease with establishing a wall and starting to remove the jungle from the enclosed area, a specific part of the forest, the Cotanglo, remained highly dangerous. There were sudden magical storms and man-eating trees preventing the destruction of the jungle.
The Owlketeers discovered and killed two hags in this jungle, hoping to end the dangerous magic. However, there was a third to their coven, and she cursed the forest and the surrounding lands. Ever since, half of all infants born in that area would not live more than a year, a markedly higher death rate than in the rest of Concordia. The Keepers offered their guardian bulls as protection for the farmers against the horrors of the jungle, but the Cotanglo Forest remained undisturbed ever since.
Newspapers were establishing in this period, including one founded by the Yu Me clan. Halfling journalist Dena Jakin famously went missing for a few weeks after she published a story about Sierra the Seer being involved with this jungle. She never divulged what happened during her absence, but upon her return she interviewed Sierra, gaining even more notoriety.

As they were searching for the culprit, the Grezans uncovered an exodus of goblins refugees that had been going on for years, a network of smugglers to help them seek haven in Concordia.
Greza openly threatened war against concordia, demanding their ‘property’ back. By Concordian law, the president could not acknowledge the escaped goblins as Grezan property.
Tensions rose, and the Concordians held conflicting opinions on the matter. Tolhuis ran a pro-goblin propaganda campaign inspiring pride in Concordian ideals of survival and freedom, while Flamel’s newspaper The Beacon put out a call to appeasement, stating that war was always best avoided. In the ensuing cold war, strict borders were being drawn and trade deals with ports on Croaker Island were constantly adjusted.

The YuMe, assisted by famous journalist Dena Jakin, attempted diplomacy and learned from their spirituality and culture. Unfortunately, Owlketeer missionaries for Larral tried to convert this community, which the soot elves met with extreme aggression. They had to be driven back to the unreclaimed jungle to protect local Concordians from their fiery destruction.

The Guardians of the Sacred Flame, a knightly order worshipping Olem, nearly crusaded into the Umsitu forest to forcefully convert the shifters. THey were warned and protected by the goblin collective and the Owlketeers. This sparked legislation to clearly divide religion and state, with the state holding jurisdiction over reclamation, reservation and preservation of land.

Meteorologists investigated the gathered data and found the speed, pattern and frequency of these meteors implausibly symmetrical. The Yu Me clan discovered a community of devas and celestial beasts having landed on a ridge of hills (later dubbed the Honeycomb Hills for their symmetrical crater patterns).
The Yu ME shared sensitive Concordian information with the devas, such as maps and population censuses. The Keepers instantly gravitated towards the celestial beasts. After long negotiations with the devas, they were allowed to cross mundane breeds with them and train the divine beasts.

Founding of the Extraplanar Investigation Agency (EIA)
    Civil action

The devas and their celestial beasts spread across the countryside, ‘searching and waiting’, while learning more of local culture and ecology. Some devas settled as protectors or revered local leaders. Most others just roamed alone, not involving themselves with the mortal communities. These free-roaming devas would on occasion, without explanation, attack citizens they deemed unworthy to live. The Guardians of the Sacred Flame lobbied in favor of giving these devas free reign. Most of their targets had committed or would commit evil deeds. However, upon closer investigation some victims were found innocent of any crimes. This led to further polarization in Concordia concerning the devas' presence.
The exoplanar intelligence agency (like EIA) was founded by the Owlketeers to keep track of the devas and to study their behaviour and intent. There were omens and prophecies of a balance-tipping event occurring soon, these were checked as well. These efforts were not enough to prevent it from happening.

    Civil action

At the beginning of the war of flames, most of the fighting was to give civilians enough time to evacuate their settlements and move away from the Blackflame Gulch. The Guardians of the Sacred Flame now played a pivotal role in mobilizing military, fully collaborating with the devas. They convinced the government to temporarily impose theocratic martial law, leaving Concordia under the rule of crusader-general Joanne Hallowblaze, until the fiendish threat was dealt with.
The Everlight Guild helped save the shifters from the Umsitu Reserve, which was hit heavily by the fiends. The Tolhuis mercenaries used this time to build fortified bridges in strategic places, barricading the shifters’ sacred ground and easy access points to local settlements. The Keepers helped by providing their celestial crossbreeds, which are powerful against fiends. Owlketeer priests sprouted a magical tree from Larral in the largest settlement on the westside of the Gulch, which granted a protective ward against the fiends. This is why the settlement was renamed Glowtree.

The Guardians of the Sacred Flame saw this as defiance of the greater Concordian effort for survival and mounted a small force to claim Herofjord, denying its status as an independent city state.
Dena Jakin mysteriously knew of this secret attack before the battalion was on the move, and warned the Everlight Guild. Tolhuis demoralized the troops by spreading propaganda of the good deeds of the Everlight Guild. In the end, the conscription didn't stand a chance. Rishanari’s Nest, the volcano to the north of Concordia, became active once more and spewed ash and acid rain which spread across the country. The climate changed, winters grew long and cold, and harvests declined. It is estimated that in the five years to follow, between 100.000 and 500.000 people died of famine. More could have perished if not for the efforts of a few.
The wizard Nyx used his magic to supply food for the army in times of scarcity, making sure the soldiers would always be fed and strong. It is thought that many elderly goblins used traditional methods of trancing and willingly starving themselves, thus also preserving food for others. The Keepers helped expand territory for Glowtree by planting saplings from its great branches, saving that population from yet another extinction.

The town would become inhospitable, therefor unusable as a strategic stronghold.
Fortunately this plan became unnecessary when combined Concordian forces collapsed another part of the Blackflame Gulch. The goblin collective provided intel of fiendish movements, so the Everlight Guild troops could keep them at bay. The Keepers suffered the greatest losses, nearly all of their trained bulettes perished to succeed in this mission. It would be years before they had enough to mount another such attack.

The Paragon of Flexibility, the goblin St. Seraphine (she/her), was guided there with an entourage from Port Libera. The black dragon Alvaro from the Everlight Guild served as her bodyguard. Sadly, she still passed away before she could arrive.
The Paragon of Ingenuity, the human St. Basil (he/him) from Basilford, made use of the ancient bulette tunnels remaining from the Age of Expansion, to avoid the fiendish forces on the surface.
The Paragon of Ambition, the human St Ernest (he/him) from Scarroton, actually took the artefact from the tomb without being noticed by its guards, to then receive the message from Pariah that he was chosen.
The Paragon of Curiosity, the halfling shifter St Tobiah (they/them) from Tulosa, made their own journey on foot along the roads, merely wishing to gather the stories of the Paragons, unaware that they themselves were one.

    the Banishment of the Exoplanars
    Religious event

Nearly 64 years after the formation of the Blackflame Gulch, the War of Flames was declared at an end. Pariah’s Paragons had banished most of the fiends (excepting the tieflings, which due to their mortal ancestry could not be banished like fullblood fiends). The Tolhuis family ensured that orphaned tieflings would find shelter and education, aided by the goblins and the owlketeers. Dwarves from their ranks also ensured that every portal in the Gulch was destroyed.

Then, desiring balance on the Material Plane, the Paragons advocated to banish all fullblood celestials as well. Sierra the Seer, aided by the YuMe, shared her voice in every house in Concordia, convincing the public that beings of this realm should be able to live their lives without interference of the other planes.

Crusader-general Joanne Hallowflame, still in command, was supported by the Keepers in her effort to ensure the devas would always have a place in Concordia. But when the Concordians backing the Paragons grew more numerous, Joanne turned to the wizard Nyx. He shared with them the knowledge of a binding ritual. Thus the crusader-general and several veteran crusaders martyred themselves to anchor any willing devas to the Material Plane. For as long as they desired, they could not be banished.

    Building of the Loweye Dam
    Construction beginning/end

The Everlight Guild, wary of the influence the Guardians of the Sacred Flame had on the Concordian government, decided to strengthen their position at the mouth of the Zabala river. They funded a large-scale expansion of Herofjord to the other side of the river. Part of this migration was the construction of a great dam across the fjord. The dam and the resulting lake were named after a historic guild leader, the goliath Lavoy Loweye.
