Wildfire elementals
Another adventuring group was sent out to investigate the perpetual wildfire in the northeast. After four weeks they returned with more questions than answers. The blaze involves multiple chaotic fire elementals. The acid rain is not related to the fire. In fact, the rain bothers the elementals as much as the community.
One week later, one of those wildfire elementals showed up at the community, having followed the adventurers. It is clearly distressed, but no one can communicate with it. Nearing the end of summer, while everyone was very occupied with other priorities, the fire elemental investigated the holiday decorations and set them on fire, nearly burning down several residences. This problem had been left unattended too long. The fire elemental was kept at the outskirts of the village.
One kobold girl, left unattended as her parents worked tirelessly with the inventors, turned out to be able to speak Ignan and communicate with the fire elemental. Finally it became clear the fire elementals were trying to defend their Emberheart from a fire-eating demon. The rains come from a volcano to the northeast, which used to be dormant before the Fey Fall. It now belches gas that turns rain into acid.
As the community aided to fight the fiend in the volcano, the wildfire elementals became more and more amicable. In winter, the community decided to create hearths for them to live in, and form a partnership of fuel and heating. With mutual respect, the hearth elementals have become a traditional part of every household.
