The Landsharks.
Land sharks appeared in the area around the underground lake. They harassed anyone trying to collect resources to the east of the community. A brave young woman from the warrior faction, a tiefling called Bulette, rallied other youngsters to help in an elaborate scheme to trap the land sharks.
The landshark traps worked much faster than expected. Land sharks were highly sensitive to lax, and not very good swimmers. The underground lake was used to catch them and kill them. Their thick metallic hide was used for armor and tools. Bulette was tall, strong, and good looking. She was highly praised and one of the first to wear full-plate armor again after the Fey Fall. Many looked up to her, and the land sharks are nowadays also known as bulettes, in honor of her.
Several weeks later, some people captured bulettes instead of killing them. They could speed up the collection of resources and digging of tunnels. The taming of the land sharks proved rather effective. Since they were no longer killed for their hides, the bulette armor became scarce again. Someone foolishly tried to adapt the landsharks to eating a vegetarian diet. The tame bulettes were quite willing to work, but sadly unable, weakened by this attempt. It took several weeks for them to get better.
Bulette met her end at the beginning of winter. A heavy cold storm blew in from the east, paralyzing the entire community within an hour. While everyone sought shelter, Bulette stayed outside. The next morning, the storm had dissipated, but signs of a struggle were there. She had fought a Frost Shepherd. It had perished, but she had been frozen in the process. While the rest of the village thawed, she remained frozen, a spear of ice piercing her heart.
