Acidic rain.

In the seventh week of spring, the wind turned and came from the northeast. With it came sickly green clouds bringing a dangerous acidic rain. It held for a week and destroyed the few livestock pens they had. The priority had to go to protecting the huts and storehouses. It became clear to the community that stronger building materials were necessary. Nearing the end of spring, some religiously inclined people had accepted the acidic rain as a punishment from the gods. They were preaching to others to do the same, and lay their arms down to receive their due justice with dignity. This sparked a discussion in the community, with the craftsmen asking what should be done about this cult. The warriors were strongly opposed the cult’s beliefs, deeming them cowards. The providers were strict, stating that no resources would be shared with those who didn’t put in the work. The Civil Servants, however, wanted to support the notion. This cult could be on to something, since they didn’t know much about the rain at all. The Inventors suggested that it should be investigated. Perhaps it could even be used. The craftsmen themselves wanted to be practical about it. To not think of problems, but think of solutions. It wasn’t until the end of summer that some people banded together to find a material that was resistant to the acidic rain, if only to protect their residences. The solution was found in the pink crystals growing in the caves to the southwest. The bulettes, after they had healed from their vegetarian diet and regained their strength, were set to work on a tunnel to these caves, a new safe route to harvest them. They stumbled upon deeper caves, with signs of habitation. Abandoned houses, but no one living there. This spooked the workers, who didn’t want to come there after dark. Stories of ghosts spread quickly. During winter, the kobold girl that communicated with the wildfire elementals, went missing. She was found back in these tunnels in the abandoned houses, feeling compelled to come there. With her finding, the local earth elementals showed themselves. They revealed ominous tremors coming from deeper underground.
