Kylie Harken

Every family has a black sheep and the Harken Family is no different.   Kylie grew up with an indifference to the obvious wealth and advantage surrounding her.   Toys and clothes would go unused or unworn as she spent as much of her childhood as she could manage playing with the children of the staff of the house and grounds much to the displeasure of her Nannies and the Housekeeper of the Great House who Kylie called "The Governess".   What was undeniable was that, between the two Harken daughters, Kylie had a super-natural ability to understand the Harken mineral discovered by her Great-Great-Grandfather and when she wasn't climbing trees with the stable boys - she was in her father's laboratory experimenting with tiny plasma reactions or cataloging the variations in the reactions according to ratios.   The variable-speed combinator found in all Harkestone vehicles is based on an invention of Kylie's she created at age 12.   As she grew older she began to truly appreciate the relationship between the natural, balanced world and the state of frozen chaos held fast in the mineral.   She began to hide herself away for days at a time to explore the tiniest detail of one reaction or another or in discovery of the speed of the gas release and the effects of that release on common items.   By this time her childhood friends had become her assistants, her staff and her bodyguards (insisted upon by Alexander).   Now in her early twenties, Kylie lives and works almost exclusively in the family laboratory complex in the countryside surrounding Athus but is also known to steal away with some of her staff to attend late night events in the city and has been returned home more than once obviously drunk, in various states of dress and always excitedly talking about how it was "simply the greatest time".   Alexander and Jenna both lecture Kylie about her importance to the family and the Kingdoms but they both know that even if Kylie has never wished them stress or worry - that she will always occasionally have to rebel, escape and, as she says, "romp the stress away....oh father, you are so old fashioned sometimes."   If asked about choosing a husband (and there is no shortage of offers) Kylie typically responds with a mischievous smile and a "Why in all realities would I want THAT?"
