Personal history
Aleitha was born to well-off parents in Ritheria, her father having had the orphanage passed down to him through generations of Garics, her mother the daughter of a nobleman who now worked as a blacksmith. She had a sister five years younger than her and a brother seven years younger. They grew up among a lot of children at the orphanage.
When she was thirteen her father died of an infected wound that had been noticed too late, and her mother took over the orphanage until Aleitha turned twenty-two and decided she was ready to take it over.
At age thirty-five Aleitha renovated the old orphanage and was persuaded to have it renamed after herself, but then a few years later the plague struck and killed many, including her younger brother. Her sister, who had been closer to him than to Aleitha, left Ritheria when unable to deal with her grief and sends biannual letters.
Aleitha now struggles to keep all the children in the orphanage well cared for due to the increase in numbers after the plague.

Very good at cooking and socially, especially dealing with stressful situations. Good story teller. Unfortunately she is not very good at staying tidy, and is also tone deaf, which makes it doubly bad when she's on cleaning duty as she insists on singing as she goes.

When the plague struck, Oscar was left parentless and homeless. Aleitha lost a brother and gained too many orphaned children to be able to stay afloat, but tried her best to look after them all. She loves them all, but with the trauma in Oscar's life from the death of his friend and his dysphoria, she's bonded more with him than with most of the others, viewing him truly as if he were her son.
