Personal history

Sagitar was a ship captain, transporting spices and other goods by sea. One day, he and his crew were caught in a heavy storm, and the ship was capsized by the enormous waves. Sagitar fell into the sea, but before he drowned, he was approached by the spirit Yumira. She offered him a deal. Eternal life and power for the cost of his soul and servitude. He valued his own life greatly, and accepted. His soul was hers to keep, but he was alive. He travelled the seas for many more years, following her commands loyally while continuing to live his life. He stopped his life as a merchant and transporter of goods, and instead got new ship and crew, forming a band of pirates. he would attack other ships and rob them. There was nearly noone who could stop him, and he ran rampant for years, collecting a large sum of riches and living a luxurious life for a man at seas. When the Destruction began, Yumira wanted to protect her relationship with the people of the Merfolk population, so when they questioned her alignment, she handed them Sagitar as a peace offering. She helped them imprison him, ending his reign of terror on the seas. They bound him in chains and sealed him in a adamantine coffin. They buried the coffin under large stones, ensuring he could not escape. Sagitar could breathe under water as long as he kept focus on it, but minutes turned into hours, hours into days. each time he lost concetration or even fell asleep, a surge of salt water would flood his lungs causing him immense pain. The pain made it nearly impossible to sleep, forcing him to deal with long bouts of insomnia. The torture was endless, and any cry for mercy Sagitar made was met with nothingness. He could not die, not matter how hard he tried. And so days became weeks, weeks became months, months to years and so on. The eternity of torment would not cease. His human body, not built for the depths, especially for long periods of time, deteriorated, leaving a rotten, yet still living corpse. All he had to cling to was rage, and the ancient and insane mariner swore revenge if he ever escaped.

Mental Trauma

Sagitar was imprisoned after being betrayed by Yumira. He was trapped under the sea unable to escape, forced to sit as his lungs flooded with salt water with each breath, in an endless agony. His mind deteriorated as over a thousand years past with him trapped there.
