Astral Space

The Astral Space is a vast empy space. It takes up the area around the World Tree, stretching an infinite amount of space in every direction. The Astral Space was empty once, however, life finds a way. Fragments of the Weave's power of life were flung into the depths of space. Creatures there grew into alien-like forms, and developed their own alternative to magic, psionic power. 
These creatures grew apart from the rest of the Planes. The oldest among them grew to incomprehensible size and power. Some venture into the other Planes, seeking knowledge or conquest. These creatures became known as aberrations. Some races of creatures that spawned in this space include:

• Aboleths:
• Beholders:
• Astral Dreadnoughts
• Illithids

Uoralonak was one of the first of them, and was so powerful that it was able to create an entire race of creatures molded after and to serve it. These were the illithids, also known as mind flayers. This Empire would be bent on conquest and invaded the World Tree multiple times in history, attempting to conquer in Planes like Limbo, the Abyss, and the Material Plane.
The very first aberration is called Itcthyalis. Known as the Astral Mother, Itcthyalis was a being of incredible power. She desired to feed on the life force of those living in the World Tree. Her psionic abilities were so powerful, she could bend branches of the Tree to prey upon unsuspecting travellers.
