2023/3/12: Revenge Against the Moon King

General Summary

Start: Cooks Day, 3rd Week Long Night Waning, 597th Year of the Hand
Return: Fast Day, Mid Shine Ascending, 597th Year of the Hand
  Heroes: Asha, Topaz, Theodrogo, Mordain
  Retainer: Rawl the Maul
Just as the adventures made their way back into the crypt of Gildus, Mordain surprised his friends with a shocking revelation: he had animated four skeletons that he hidden away in the back of his donkey-driven cart. It was apparent that his hatred for Gildus and his "wives" was so great that he easily overlooked his own distaste for the undead in order to us them against the Moon King and his minions. Theodrogo was righteously appalled at this discovery but gritted his teeth; perhaps Mordain could mollify him with the prosect of destroying these thralls after the Moon King was dealt with.
Thankfully, this time the Heroes fared better than last time: Mordain remained alive, and Gildus lay dead.

Theodrogo's tavern tale as told to Donegal:     “We all survived, indeed! Well, Mordain is still not quite alive perhaps, but he didn’t become deader. We traveled to the Crypt of Gildus directly, bypassingthe three sisters. Yaneb guided me as I guided all of us, and we made it in relatively short time. When we got there, Mordain had a surprise for us, he removed a covering from his wagon and several undead (and unholy, I might add) undead skeletons emerged—foul creatures of his own creation through strange new powers granted by his new patron I assume. ‘Fight fire with fire’ he said. Harumph. Well, they modestly helped when we entered the crypt and were immediately beset by shadows, though we certainly could have handled them without those abominations.”
“Those skeletal affronts to Yaneb showed their true colors as we descended further into the crypt and were beset by more shadows, and larger flying ones and larger ones still, along with Gildus himself and the remaining ‘sister’ who inflicted pain by her mere presence. Then Gildus spoke to Mordain’s creations and many of them switched sides and began attacking us too! I wish I could say I was surprised by this, but what else can one expect attempting to ally with all that is evil!”
"We all joined the fray, and I prayed to Yaneb who saw through Their grace to empower Asha's blade with magic. And the ample holy water that Malwyn prepared for our adventure proved most useful as we were able to throw it from a distance, though I managed to get close and deliver the ultimate blow to destroy the evil sister."

"Gildus flew high above the ground, and was very difficult to hit even when throwing the blessed waters of Yaneb. And he managed to halt any effort to heal each other or ourselves. Even sipping on a potion provided no relief as he appeared to remove the healing extracts from such liquids. Indeed, after many hits without an ability to heal, I could barely stand. Asha took mercy on me with a protective spell, and will my last energy I hurled myself at Gildus who had returned to the floor attempting to block our retreat, and with two slices of the Difference Maker, he was dead. Again. This time for good (I think)."
"We then spent many hours sanctifying the foul crypt with holy water, in particular the remains of Gildus and the sister. We found much treasure...large fist sized gems, plenty of coin, and magical items like this horn of breaking wind you see on the table. And there was much we left behind as we did not have enough room to bring it. For Gildus appeared to be a librarian, or at least, a bibliophile. He crypt seemed to double as a library, and it appears he was responsible as well for the library discovered at the fertility temple."
"But to Topaz's dismay, we found no raven feathers."
