After entering the Crypt of Gildus, the Heroes discovered a mural that depicted a man with a woman to either side of him. It was assumed the man was the eponymous Glidus. Soon after, the Heroes were attacked by two undead creatures wearing rotted and torn robes. They seemed to be females, perhaps the women in the mural, and each have a withering gaze that steals the souls of those who look upon them. Asha was the first to succumb to the gaze, but she was returned to life by a quick-thinking Topaz who fed her a healing potion.
Joining the two undead was another, stronger and taller undead creature--again it was presumed to be Gildus. He spoke in the Meni language which, to her surprise, Topaz could understand. Gildus called the female undead "wives", making him the "husband"?
Disaster struck as Mordain fell to the gaze of one of the "wives" and Topaz was prevented in healing him with her paladin's touch, and Mordain soon died thereafter.
Gildus summoned more shadow minions, and all looked lost until Theodrogo used an item blessed by his faith that encaged the undead. A "wife" was destroyed, allowing the Heroes to make their escape with Mordain's lifeless body.
Theodrogo, with Mordain's body on Asha's axe beak, Flamewing, rode hard for Fort Far View and made the journey in two days, nearly exhausting the poor axe beak. For her part, Asha was just as exhausted and close to death, but Topaz was able to help and heal her on their much more sedate travel home. They arrived just in time to see Mordain revived by their actions during their tired and bedraggled travels.
