The adventure to Bone Tower as told by Orryn Surefoot.   On this day we set out for the bone tower located to the southwest of Fort Far View. We prepared by stocking up on holy water and listening to the tales of Yaneb to gain some inspiration and increased resolve. The sun has just begun showing itself with just a few hours of twilight each day. The days are still mostly cold and dark and on the day we setout a heavy wind was blowing. While the mountains to the West loomed dark over us we were able to maintain course.   That afternoon we encountered some elk that let Orryn know they did not like going near the tower as it was unnatural. That day we also encountered tracks of a large beast that seemed to be traveling northwest. Some of they party wanted to follow, but others pointed out it would take us far from our destination, so we opted to forage and prepare for the night. The woods only provided a few fresh grubs that evening proving the long dark still has it's grips on the lands. That evening was uneventful, and we got a long rest.   The 2nd day of travel was for the most part uneventful, until the afternoon when we encountered a mammoth being chassed by a pack of wolverines. We tried to give chase and I called out to the mammoth that we were friends and to seek protection behind our pack. The faster of our group were able to slay a few of the bests, while the mammoth did finally see us as not a threat and turned in our direction. With that the pack of 4 chasing our friend were no more.
I (Orryn) was able to speak with the great beast and asked it for information about the tower we were heading to. It was confused as to why we would be going there as only those wanting to die went there. With that it proceeded along it's path back to the herd. We harvested parts from the 4 slain attackers. Under a heavy snow fall we rested for the evening.   On our 3rd day of travel the forest became eerily quiet and void of life as we approached the bone
tower. As we were making our way through the forest we were beset upon by attacking skeletons that appeared out of nowhere. Some form of illusionary magic must have been used for they got the jump on us. In addition arrows were being shot at us from somewhere off in the distance. Summoning natures aid, I cast call lightning and hid behind our cart for cover. All seemed to be going well, when all of a sudden the cart jolted off into the distance leaving me standing alone. I wild shaped into a bear and was able to catch scent of the hidden creatures with bows. Directing our party to their location they were eventually dispatched and silence once again filled the air.   That afternoon we made it to the edge of the clearing to catch sight of the bone tower centered in a great ice field. The field was easily 400 ft to the center structure where we could see creatures taking bones from bags and constructing the tower. Taur let us know that the structure had indeed grown since they were last here. While we watched the area we saw a group of human like creatures arrive on the far side, to deposit bags on the ice. Spectral like creatures reached out of the ice to take possession of the bags. We had quite a discussion on how to proceed. The tower was indeed well designed for defense and one of the creatures was on lookout holding an eye in it's hand. Eventually we decided to make our way over to the location where the supplies had be delivered and perhaps capture those that were bringing them. We made cold camp that evening and prepared for battle.   Our final day at the tower we spotted another group delivering supplies but on the opposite shore. So our hopes of capturing them seemed a misscalculation. So with our time running out we devised a plan B to simply test the strength of the spectral forms under the ice. Mordain had the idea to cast a magic circle on the ice and see how strong these spectral figures really where. I can say it was a bit
scary being inside the circle when the undead swarmed around us in great numbers. While great in numbers they seemed weak when Turn Undead was cast and a great number of them were immediately destroyed. Taur was indeed brave as he assailed the undead from outside the circle and I cat Moon Beam from within.    Now with a greater understanding of their strength, we decided to head back to far view. No great rewards were obtained, but hopefully the knowledge gained will provide us benefits in the future.   ~ Orryn Surefoot
