The Green WIlds

The Green Wilds stretch across a vast expanse of taiga, temperate forests, and open grasslands, a land rich with game, rivers, and fertile soil. This transitional zone is a place of constant movement and shifting power, home to scattered tribes that have learned to adapt, resist, or disappear in the face of ever-present threats.

To the north, the Frostwilds loom, and from their harsh borders come raiders seeking supplies and shelter. From the west, the Ironfrost Peaks cast their shadow, though only the boldest risk venturing too deep into the domain of the mountain-dwelling clans. Yet, these are but distant dangers compared to the true storm that rages along the southern frontier.

Here, at the northern edge of the Kirtothian Empire, the forests and plains are forever scarred by the march of warbands, slavers, and legions, a slow but unstoppable tide of conquest. The Empire's expansionist war machine grinds ever forward, eradicating, enslaving, or assimilating anything that stands in its way. Towns are razed, sacred groves burned, and once-proud tribes shattered or forced into brutal submission.

Yet, the Green Wilds are not conquered so easily. Its people—humans, Urruk, Orcus, and Durgans among them—are as diverse as the land itself, each with their own ways of resisting the inevitable. Some fight with guerrilla tactics, striking from the shadows before vanishing into the trees. Others forge alliances, seeking safety in numbers. And some, weary of the endless war, turn their backs on old ways, choosing assimilation over annihilation.

The Green Wilds are a battlefield, but not only of swords and fire. Here, the war is also fought through whispers and survival, through hidden paths known only to the hunted, and through ancient traditions that refuse to be forgotten. The land remembers those who walk it—whether as conquerors, rebels, or the last remnants of a people clinging to what little remains.
