The Aurashar
The Aurashar are the Yaksha of the Aurathis Plains, a people who live in harmony with the golden fields, rolling meadows, and coastal shores of their homeland. They are a nomadic people, moving with the seasons to prevent the land from being overused, maintaining an intricate balance between their needs and the natural cycles that shape the region. Their migrations form a vast network of interwoven paths, connecting inland grazing grounds to the ocean’s bounty, ensuring that no part of their domain is neglected or forgotten.
The Aurashar’s spirituality is deeply rooted in the land, sky, and stars, though their reverence is expressed through quiet stewardship rather than grand ceremony. Each family bears a sacred bond to a specific region, tasked with protecting its vitality and ensuring its continued harmony. They do not see themselves as owners of the land, but as its caretakers, bound by duty to the spirits that inhabit it. Each morning, as the sun rises over the plains, they greet it with silent offerings, recognizing its warmth as a guiding force in both the seen and unseen worlds.
Despite their nomadic nature, the Aurashar gather in sacred places to maintain their unity. Ashar’s Embrace serves as their central meeting ground, a site where councils are held, disputes are resolved, and wisdom is shared between families. Across the seasons, the Hearthsong Festivals draw them together to celebrate the rhythms of life, exchanging stories and songs that reinforce their connection to one another and the land.
While the Aurashar have little direct contact with Ro’Gnesh, the Khulwane and Khorvag stand as a shield, keeping the gnollish warbands at bay. The Aurashar, in turn, support the region through knowledge, mediation, and unseen influences, their wisdom serving as a steady undercurrent for the stability of the plains. Their ties to a Shard of The Mosaic provide a subtle link to the wider world, though they do not seek power or expansion—only equilibrium.
The Aurashar do not seek dominion, nor do they impose their way of life upon others. They are wayfinders and caretakers, a people of whispered prayers and quiet guidance, ensuring that the Aurathis Plains remain a land where life flourishes in all its forms.
