Introduction
Welcome :) Here is a brief overview so you don't have to jump straight into extreme details without first having a big picture. This article's a jumbled mess right now; hopefully I will fix it soon. I think you can still make sense of it, though.
important notes
0. See the meta. There's not much there, but it's important to know, because it's very different from most people's on here. 2. There are a LOT of placeholder names and (insert name here)s in this wiki. Slooooowly I will get around to naming things. Maybe. hopefullygods?? magic??????
There are no REAL gods. There are no deities, traditional magical concepts, spirits, afterlife. But see instead:magic
The closest thing to magic in this world is a little extra particle I added which enables physics "exploits." Don't ... don't ask me details. I am not a physicist. I call it magic, for lack of better term, and it is also considered magic by most ignorant mortals. I might have a better name later. Article pending. It is hard to explain because I don't know wtf is going on myself.gods
The Gods are beings who have gained extraordinary ability to understand and visualise the fabric of the universe. Many gods have also gained access to extreme levels of magic, and are therefore able to use their knowledge to bend reality. Nobody, not even the gods, knows where their powers came from, and because the gods are not keen on exposing how their powers work to others for various individual reasons. And so meaning mortals are inclined to believe they're just ~magical and godly~ and usually worship them. See this article for more information.Dating system
there are a lot of dating systems people use here. this wiki uses the most common Elven system, which divides the timeline into years before the gods (Ancient Era - AE) and during/after the gods (Modern Era - ME). the gods showing up is an event everyone on the planet experienced so it seems fair enough to use it here. (Other dating systems used in-universe will be mentioned in the articles of the societies that use them.)Species
There are 3 categories of sapient species: elves, reptiles, and humans. No species have articles yet but they will, hopefully soon. Elves break down into a whole bunch of subspecies! they evolve very rapidly and not always to their benefit. they come in nearly every colour and ability set you could think of. they are very culturally diverse as well. Reptiles are a broad category which means one of three things in terms of sapient people: "lizards" who may physically remind you of Argonians and are usually very busy writing poetry and attempting to commune with the dead; crocodile-looking things which are very good at magic and have large wealthy empires; and "birds" who were* a singular race of bipedal 4ft-ish bird-looking people who hung out with the lizards.* ;) Humans are humans. all humans are part of the same species. Banish the thought!: Though there are instances of dystopian species-ism/racism, I don't intend it to be the overarching theme... because it makes me depressed... for the most part everyone gets along; if they hate each other it is on the basis of xenophobia or ignorance, not hatred of a person's DNA.
