Great Fortress of Jord

Situated on the southeastern shore of Inner Jord, the Great Fortress is the prime location of a handful of such fortresses that serve as the initial holding area of all incoming prisoners intended to spend the rest of their lives on the island. It, like the others, also serve as immense barracks to guard against any uprising of the inmates.

History

During the last Jordish Civil War, the Great Fortress was one of the last holdouts of the rebel faction. At the end of the war when the royal faction took control, the fortress was turned into a prison rather than be razed. The place that had been the refuge of the rebels was now mockingly used against them by the victors. After roughly a century, the entirety of Inner Jord was turned into a prison to further the insult on the dwindling faction's remaining populace. Without question, Jord is the largest prison in the world and other nations now routinely practice in exporting their worst criminals.
