2nd Session- The Asadan Intrigue

General Summary

8th-9th of Phyton's Planting, 1436

Rippling Portals

As Lapis screamed in alarm a planar gateway formed within the window of her shared room with Udoud, taking on an amethyst glow. Scarlet's alarm spell also triggered within her head as the same thing happened in her chamber's window. On investigation both saw that that it was as though they were looking through a pool of dyed water, rippling and distorting their view of the outside. But the novelty of the situation was soon replaced by shock and clawed arms appeared and heaved out disfigured bodies as though they were climbing out of a pit. As soon as the horned creatures were beyond the aura of the portal they leapt away from the compound.
On the ground floor Phuc Her heard the Tabaxi's scream and shook his head, ready to dismiss the outburst as the result of another sexual dalliance until the very walls around him began to shudder. He ran upstairs and met Lapis and Udoud just as they were scrambling backwards out of their room. He asked what was going on and Lapis pointed him squarely towards the dark magic at work in the window. Scarlet and Kumi came out of their rooms as the compound shook again. The young Genasi quickly told the group that her window also had a portal and creatures leaping from it.

Defense of Anmedos

The party rushed down the stairs and out the front doors of the compound to fight the creatures appearing out of the portals. Outside, they found that the screams they'd heard were far from idle as one of the townspeople was cut down in an instant by a slash of claws. The carnage grew as two more attempted to flee their damaged homes down the street. The sound of the party appearing outside caught the attention of the creatures and drew them into the dim light. They were ghastly demonic beings, looking like diseased bipedal goats, barely clothed and the exposed flesh of their bodies was covered in lesions and boils. They snarled with a unhinged, animalistic rage. Scarlet recognized these lesser demons from her studies as Bulezau.
Fires were being started across the settlement while pungent clouds spread out killing the precious vegetation of the oasis. Leaping to the defense of the village, most of the party spread out to deal with the Bulezau. Lapis briefly used her speed attempting to track the alkilith manifesting the portals for the demons to appear, but the entity seemingly disappeared after she gave chase. Her focus shifted back to joining the others.
The battle was intense and ranged across the majority of the village. Kumi, unaffected by the corrupting aura coming from the Bulezau, remained near the compound and kept up her attacks despite preferring to flee. She eventually managed to down one of the diseased creatures. Lapis eventually managed to use her fists to punch through the torso of yet another she cornered on a roof. Phuc Her and Scarlet worked together to keep another from polluting the pool of the oasis. When the tide began to turn, an even more sickly and spindly demon made itself known. It appeared to be in command and joined the frey, going after Scarlet as a capable caster. The two exchanged spells while chasing a teleporting around the settlement. Its grandest move was to attempt casting Feeblemind on Scarlet, which she was luckily able to counter. She turned one of her allies into a giant ape to finally grapple and pin the creature down, but even that took several tries while the last of the Bulezau where handled.

Premature Departure

Eventually, the last demon, the Oinoloth, was pinned down a final time with the party closing in to finish it off. Its dry voice suddenly croaked out a small laugh and declared it was tired of the engagement and managed to procure a small tuning fork from its tattered robes. Before the party could take any actions to stop him, the tone of the tuning fork rang out and the Oinoloth disappeared entirely.

Kumi: Kumi was still trying to figure out her place within the group, but held her own in combat, much better than during the fight against the kraken. Her infernal nature prevented the blighting aura from afflicting her
Lapis: Healed and cleansed by Beats of a Heart immediately after the battle. Later, fearing that she had lost a pregnancy, she spoke with Beats of a Heart and Carnelian about adopting one of the ophans; a 7-year old Human boy named Acre. The two agreed they would see that the child was safely taken to the capital
Phuc Her: Gained a calligrapher's set and book of plants from the general store inventory. He was healed by Beats of a Heart to remove the poison brought on by encountering the Bulezau, but remained cursed with a wasting disease that prevented him from fully healing.
Sasimay Swayson: N/A
Scarlet Swayson: Scarlet bought the general store owned by Passor Chien and took advantage of her acquisition by claiming supplies for her use as well as for the party.

Missions/Quests Completed

The party successfully saved Anmedos from a demon onslaught.
